'Effectiveness' by comparison, say in comparison to Ammachi’s movement, maybe it was just poor/bad administrative culture by contrast in TM? I heard of a comment recently by someone assessing Fairfield, Iowa who is not in the TM movement but on the Ammachi tour and organization saying that the meditating community in Fairfield, by this person’s observation in passing, was not effective as a community at getting things done. That Fairfield, Iowa 'is not really an ashram'. While ‘Meditating Fairfield, Iowa’ functions in so many ways as a community but in some way effectiveness was not important in TM organization after the 1970’s. The metrics of how it was going disappeared from then. Now in what is a post-founder democratic corporate phase of the org: performance, effectiveness and competency is being more closely looked at to drive policy. Embedded culture is slow to change. This depends on community effectiveness too. For a time at a time the community of TM was more effective where mission and metrics were more transparent. The ‘movement’ community was more effectively inclusive and more effectively used. That seemed to change after the mid-70’s with the advent of teams-of-four overthrow and again with the pivot of the Vedic science course in India.
