authenticity in how we conduct ourselves.  That applies to us all I guess - and 
I note that Ravi has refuted his Yogi status.  He is a bhogi now :) I also 
don't understand this focus on thinking only happy, happy thoughts.  Why deny 
ourselves the full range of thoughts and emotions - often, in my life, the 
painful ones have forced movement.

others) that you are enlightened by attempting to behave in the way you think

There's nothing wrong with mood-making per se, only with the TM-related

Well you may say this is a public list, but you may or may not know the
Long's and Ladisgate's mistrust of each other, the bitterness, the acrimony
extends back to 400 years. My Auntie and I have been reunited after a long
time, but we are keeping this a secret for now because of the love, duty.
commitment to each of our respective families. Though I will say Ladisgates
have been slighted by Longs, just because I'm a dark skinned Indian doesn't
cut it and Aunt Share knows this injustice well. I'm the progeny of their
seeds spread to India and my skin color darkened by the hot sun of South
India doesn't mean I am not a proud member of the Ladisgate clan.

Lawson, please I beg you don't further sow the seeds of mistrust, hatred

Well, not exactly. An enlightened person, by definition, cannot fail to be 
authentic.


Mood-making is more along the lines of being nice not because you think it good 
to be nice, or because your religion says to try to be nice, but because you 
think that you are going to be more enlightened by behaving like enlightened 
people do.

1) ain't going to happen that way anyway (good works alone, and all that);
2) it is impossible to be sure how an enlightened person would behave in a 
given situation anyway, so it's a futile thing to attempt;
3) it can lead to truly self-destructive (in the usual sense of the word) 
behavior by setting up a veneer of tolerance on your part for things that 
shouldn't be tolerated if only for the sake of your health and the health of 
others.

add to the toll of death and misery on the roads? Quite surprising
that insurance companies haven't cottoned on to this and elevated

Barry, you should reconsider your animus toward astrology/Jyotish. Bone up on 
it. Bridge the credibility gap. It certainly won't hurt your near zero record 
for accurate predictions on FFLife.

 add to the toll of death and misery on the roads? Quite surprising

Thanks John, but I don't have any trouble understanding
the terms, just how they are still being believed in our 
supposedly more enlightened age. It isn't like you can 
actually predict anything with this nonsense is it? It
isn't like it makes any kind of sense given what we now
know about the cosmos compared to the people who invented
astrology. Sure, It might appear to make sense if you look
back and use a bit of creative license but no-one has ever
made a reliable conviction with this stuff and even here 
it's a tad superficial.

And then there's the mechanism, how does the position
of a planet at your birth make things more or less likely
to happen in the future? Why birth and not conception or
at the proper dawn of consciousness at around 3 years old?
And why would their apparent positions against an arbitrary
backdrop of stars mean we can see what has happened to one
person/event but not to other people/events that were born
a day (or whatever) later?
 
I bet I have a lot more questions than astrology has answers
and that is the very definition of a bad theory.

And it's based on the misunderstanding that the earth is
the centre of the solar system and that all the planets and 
even the sun go round it. Well they don't but if you prise 
open your astrology software you'll find it still thinks it 
does, it has to do that otherwise you would see it make even
less sense.

Take the term retrograde, planets don't actually go backwards
you know, the earth just overtakes them on it's orbit and it 
looks like they go backwards. Shame they don't use all the 
planets too, bit tricky to cram then in I guess, you'd have to
invent some new sanskrit words but that would underline that 
it was never complete in the first place. Not that it works, 
or ever did. Give it up John, it's a load of nonsense. There 
is no answer in the sky, embrace the uncertainty that is our 
reality.

Astrology is anthropomorphism taken to its logical conclusion.
A connection from our lives to the very heavens. Give a monkey a
brain and it'll swear it's the centre of the universe.

 These are all good ideas.  But I don't believe she has the willingness to 
 join Mother Divine or any similar organizations.
 
 Rahu is in her 10th house which will make her career minded, but not 
 necessarily wise in her behaviour and life choices.

Or how about if she were to stop snorting, smoking and guzzling drugs, to take 
responsibility for her actions and her life, realize she is not privileged in a 
way that allows her to act with impunity without the consequences that result 
as a byproduct of selfish, indulgent action. Maybe she needs to step back and
