[farsiweb] Persian input with US/European keyboard

2003-06-11 Thread Mostafa Modirrousta
Hi Nigel!

This program of yours, it is not free, is it?

Also, there is a link on your page to Eurofarsi or something like that. As
a movement which has no authority over Persian language, this site offers
no valuable information, insight, or help, to Persian writing people
around the world. It only adds to the problems! (If i am not wrong, this
site has been up for at least some 4-5 years now and so far, it has been
on its own)

Learning new combination of latin alphabets for Persian characters per se
is not that new or helping. I liked to see it in FarsiTeX as it would help
to creat an input file no matter what the platform, Linux, Windows, Mac,
etc. However, I, personally, could not make myself go thru learning new
key combinations just to type Persian specially on XP. I have the keyboard
already available to me, in XP, and I would only need to learn which
letter is where ;)

Regards,
Mostafa

It seems that there are some sort of Farsi-integration in the new Mandrake
distro. Anyone has tried it yet?

Re: [farsiweb] New Membet

2002-03-01 Thread Mostafa Modirrousta

salAm Saber,

1. I must have missed the FRED thing.

2. I must have missed your explaining of the project either.

3. I must have been reading your message while doing other things for
which I apologize.

Now my question: Non-Iranians who have a fairly basic knowledge of
computer and Internet, should be able to follow everything that we do to
read a page in Farsi or Type in Farsi. The keyboard layout and problems
like that are nothing new or specific to Farsi. I have the same problems
when I want to write in French (well, sort of). So, it would be more
illuminating to know exactly what the project is all about.

I hope that this discussion is relevant to this mailing list if not,
please reply to my personal email and not the group.

Regards,

Re: [farsiweb] New Membet

2002-03-01 Thread Mostafa Modirrousta

bA salAm,

Besides, what is the good of another group of 6-7 people working on a
standardization problem?

There is already FarsiWeb being active on the issue with a good
connection and I might add authority about the issue. My suggestion is
that those members come and share their know-how with the experts of
FarsiWeb (of which I am not one ;).

Last word: The message explicitly mentioned that one has to send an email
to ask for login + pw, but again, what would be the use of a small group
working on a universal problem (well, we are the world, n'est-ce pas?
:):):)

Have an excellent day and night.

Regards,
m.m

PS: Don't get me wrong! I would love to see the fruits of efforts of
people working on the matter whereever they are but an organized work
would bear fruits much faster.
