FIP
Hi if you need info on Corona not causing FIP in most cases then I suggest you contact Dianne Addie at Glasgow University in UK. She has a website on FIP and corona viruses as she has been researching it for many years and is teh leading expert here in UK. http://www.dr-addie.com Michelle, Minstrel, Buddy Angel Bramble
Dr Dianne Addie
Hideyo I forgot to say that if you do contact Dianne Addie then state your history and involvement in feline rescue as I am sure you would anyway. But as a rule Glasgow University are not at liberty to provide information to anyone other that vets. When I contacted her I said I was involved in animal rescue and asked if she had any reference to research that I was interested in at the time and stated in my mail that if she was unable to give that information to me directly could she please pass it to my vet (who would then give it to me). She actually contacted me but alas no info available on paediatric FIV which is what I wanted. I'm sure she must have some references that would be appropriate for you though. She has researched FIP for nearly 20 years and been involved in FIV research as I'm sure you know already. Michelle, Minstrel, Buddy Angel Bramble

Tad, What a lovely tribute to Annie. I am so glad that she had some time with you and was just not left on the street or euthanized in the vet's office.I keep re-reading your post, wondering why her behavior changed, but I just can't figure it out. Tad, I am really, really sorry. The number of deaths have been overwhelming in the last week or two. It is heartbreaking. I am glad that Annie went so quickly and without pain, if she had to go, but she should not have had to go. I am so glad that you took care of her, and that she did not end her life in a cage, buy on a bed with someone who loved her. Michelle
Re: OT:Animal Control issue - need help again.
The No More Homeless Pets forum deals with specific issues each week, not all questions. I would actually call Best Friends Sanctuary itself, in Utah, for advice. And again, I would call the Animal Legal Defense Fund for advice and a referral to a local pro bono attorney. Michelle In a message dated 11/11/2005 11:38:56 A.M. Re: Annie is gone
Tad, I am so sorry to hear that your Annie passed on. I hope you have some comfort in knowing that if you hadn't taken her in, her life might not have been much living in that cage. I know she was happy that you did. I was very surprised that she passed as peacefully as she did. What a blessing for you both. I so wish Cricket would have passed that smoothly. I am haunted by his death, but I try to reassure myself that that's the way it had to be. For some reason, God must have wanted it that way, because of the timing and everything else. I also smiled when you wrote about your feral cat. It feels good to win the trust of an animal. I hope that you will take the good out of what happened with Annie, although it's so hard to let them go. You must be an angel to take in these FeLV kitties. And a very strong person to watch them go. God bless you Tad. :) Wendy __ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com
Re: To Sandy
Hey Sandy, Glad to hear that Cotton's diarrhea has cleared up. Sounds like he's doing well, thank goodness. I use Miticide (I think that's the name of it) on my kitties' ears if they get mites. You can get it at Walmart. It's really gooey and smothers the mites. I don't know if the mites will go away on their own or not. I am always very serious when I name my animals. I think that names are important. I watched Cricket as he was a kitten for several weeks before he got his name. He jumped on everything, and it dawned on me one day that he looked like a Cricket. He was black like your Cricket and had a beautiful, shiny medium length coat with a fluffy tail. His fur was so soft. I will miss petting him. He had gold eyes too, and around his pupils, he had a really lime green color. I've never seen a cat with eyes that green color before. It kind of was the color on the Christmas Cricket picture. Thank you for your condolences on Cricket. We buried him last night and it was a nice little service. I read a little thing I had written. We buried him with a copy of it and with his feather toy and with a little thing my nephew wrote on. We put a little marker on his grave. I wish I could remember where I've seen those kits where you can make stuff out of some type of clay. I'd like to make him a little headstone. I enjoyed reading about your baby Cricket. Maybe since you are in Houston, and I got my Cricket in Houston, Cricket and Cricket have the same father. You never know. I didn't know who the dad was; just the mom. These poor kitties. All of them fatherless. lol. Good luck with the new vet. If you talked with them on the phone and got a good feeling for them, you probably aren't far off the mark. Let us know how the visit goes. :) Wendy __ Start your day with Yahoo! - Make it your home page! http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs

Pics of Cricket
Steph, Thanks so much! Very cool! I just wanted to tell everyone that Cricket was a very mischevious kitty sometimes, especially at Christmas time. I haven't been able to keep a tree intact for the past four years. lol. In the photo where Cricket is watching TV, he was watching that intro. cartoon about the squirrel before the Ice Age movie. He really liked it. FYI: I bought a kitty entertainment video several years back. I think I might have gotten it at Petsmart. My kitties LOVE that video. It basically shows birds and squirrels in their natural habitat. It would be a good stocking stuffer/Christmas gift for your kitties this year. :) Wendy __ Yahoo! Wendy, he was so cute-- and mischievous like my Simon! What a heartbreak that he is gone. He looks so healthy and happy in the pictures. Michelle
Re: Pictures of Cricket on Web!
Yes, he was always healthy except for that one week two years ago when he got that infection. Other than that, he's had a smooth ride for a kitty with FeLV, expect for the past three and a half weeks. It's hard to get used to seeing someone so healthy get sick like that. I am just glad that he's not sick anymore, although I so wished he had beat this. What a heartbreaking disease. If it were a person, I would kick it's blankity-blank-blank. lol. I am so glad I have these pictures of Cricket and I want to encourage anyone out there to take some of your own furballs if you don't have any before it's too late. A fun and/or relaxing weekend to all out there. :) Wendy --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Wendy, he was so cute-- and mischievous like my Simon! What a heartbreak that he is gone. Hideyo in tears
I just got off the phone with Hideyo, she needs more of your prayers and healing thoughts. One of her semi feral boys, Garfunkel, is in a very bad way right now. He was failing, but doing okay, up until, I think she said yesterday. He's stopped eating and is barely moving around, his temp is so low that it's not registering on the thermometer. She brought him to the vet and they suggested she leave him there for IV support, but they didn't expect him to recover. She didn't want to leave him alone, so he's at home with her today. Poor Hideyo is so upset. Garfunkel is one of her favorites, she was telling me how he always comes to greet her, how he's so affectionate with her and the other cats. She asked that I write to the list and ask for prayers for a miracle, or at least an easy passing, if that's what has to be. With all that she has going on right now, she's a wreck. She also asked for prayers for another semi feral named Ruby-E. He has had dental work done and the last time he had a bad reaction, so she's worried about him too. While you are including Hideyo's cats in your prayers, please send her calming, supportive energy to help ease her stress. I worry so about her, she has such a kind and sensitive heart. Nina

Re: Pictures of Cricket on Web!
Title: Yahoo! Photos Wendy and Steph, I lovedthose pictures of your Cricket! Helooksso muchlike my Cricket in the face, but she is not as fuzzy. If you were to take away the fullness (looks mostly like fur) on his cheeks, then you'd have my Cricket. I especially love the oneChristmas Cricket. He looks so busted! Wendy, I know my Cricket's mother, her name is Annie, andshe lives with a very good friend of mine.Annie was found in the woodswith her mother, who was feral. The similarities between motherand daughter are many. They both have itty, bitty voices. She and my Cricket both curl their tail into a question mark, even whenthe tailis up high. I have read that doing thatwith thier tail means they are happy with a touch of anxiety. I don't know if it's just a coincidence, but myCricket's wearing a yellow collar right now too. I had tolook twice at that pic of your Cricket. Maybe they are kindred in spirit. Sandy

Thank you Belinda. I think so, too. :) I don't know if you can tell from his pics, but the lymph nodes in his neck are quite visible.
