[Felvtalk] Update on Tommy
My FeLV+ kitten, Tommy, continues to do wonderfully! He is active and playful, and has a tremendous appetite. He will be neutered on January 29th - his holistic vet said to continue to give him the DMG to help his immune system with the stress of surgery. She also gave him a probiotic to help his bowels when he is on an antibiotic. This is so much different from what I thought it would be like to have an FeLV kitten! I understand we are very lucky, and for that I am grateful. His holistic vet says that after the surgery, once he is stress free again, we can retest him for FeLV. It's great to hear that he is doing so well. Sounds like you have a good holistic vet, very involved in what is going on with him. Keep loving your little guy! Thank you, Sue - and I will keep loving him. He's cuddling with me now, making it hard to type, and I wouldn't have it any other way! His holistic vet is wonderful - I just love her! [Felvtalk] About Transfer Factor
Hi, I have been receiving mailings for the past few weeks. I have a Felv + 13 year old black cat named Benny. It is hard even writing that he is a positive, as I have been in denial since his diagnosis many years ago. This past Christmas we almost lost him, he lost a lot of weight, he stopped eating, and he was totally lethargic, not wanting anything to do with us or being around anyone. He normally is at the back door every day looking through the glass, but he didn't want anything to do with that either. I took him to the vet on Christmas Eve and they did blood work. I waited there in the office for the results, and the vet came in and basically told me that Benny had days to livehis blood counts were really low (along with his platelets) She recommended euthanizing him, but I couldn't do that. He is my best friend, and I wanted to at least give him a fighting chance. 2 weeks later, he is still here, still not eating on his own much (I am syringing a/d) and still pretty lethargic. But, he does appear to have a bit more energy these past few days, and he is eating more on his own. (sorry this is so long, just wanted to introduce our situation) I started giving Benny Transfer Factor Classic a month ago when all this started, and now we are onto Transfer Factor Plus (Along with hi-vites, omega-3's, probiotics, immunoreglan injections, interferon and a broad spectrum antibiotic) I have heard a lot of great things about Transfer Factor (including the post from today's digest from Linda Gate and was wondering what she means by 'it works'. Has anyone had a positive kitty pull through a sickness like this? I am praying everyday that he will start taking in enough calories to survive without me assist feeding. Oh, another question I have is about an e tubeI know there is a yahoo group I should probably post this question on, but thought I would give it a shot here.the vet says with Benny's low blood and platelet count, they wouldn't want to put him under the anesthetic for an etube is it possible those counts could change for the better in time to allow for this procedure (if he doesn't start eating on his own)? Thanks for all your support. She is absolutely darling and looks so healthy. One of the first kitties I ever helped was a double positive big gray boy (Carmen, remember him? Laurie was his transporter). I love the term chipin. She does look healthy, doesn't she? We were all pretty surprised. Still hope it is a bad test, but need money for an IFA.
