[Felvtalk] Sunscreens increase skin cancer....

2011-07-14 Thread Natalie
We were talking about the FDA last week - here's another perfect example
of how one cannot even trust them on something as simple as sunscreen
ingredients! And all this, WITH what we think are strict regulations - and
those who want to do away with ALL regulations, making it easier for big
corporations to make more money, makes one wonder whether they ever consider
even their own families in their quest for more and more profits?

Whom can one trust, if the FDA, supposedly protecting us from bad things,
has known all this? What else is it they keep under their hats?

Study: Many sunscreens increase skin cancer risk, FDA has known for a
decade but done nothing

A new report issued by the consumer protection organization Environmental
Working Group (EWG) reveals that many popular sunscreens contain ingredients
known to spur the growth and spread of skin cancer cells, which defeats
their stated purpose...

You are exactly right Natalie... It is shocking that the FDA
cares little or nothing about the people who buy products they
approve that are known carcinogenics.

The Agriculture Dept. also care nothing about the food we eat.
Meat is contaminated with e-coli, and vegetables and fruit are
sprayed with toxic herbacides and pestacides.

It is all about MONEY, MONEY, MONEY and how much big corporations
can fatten their pockets.

No wonder we have to worry about what they are putting in our pet
food. If they don't care what they sell, they obviously care even
less about our pets.

I could get up on my soap box and go on and on about this, but

Sounds like the FDA is no different than the TCEQ (Texas Commission on
Environmental Quality) or the RRC (Railroad Commission) on the
drilling/fracking issues we have in my home town.

We have dogs with rare forms of cancer caused by drilling. All were healthy

We have a cluster of kids in my town with leukemia. My friend was diagnosed
with Multiple Myeloma, which generally effect elderly African-Amer men. She
is a Caucasian and less than 40 yrs. old. One of her doctor's asked her if
she ever lived by gas wells, guess what her answer was? Yup, you are
correct.

Sorry for the rant, I'm sick of these agencies/gov that don't protect us

It's a touchy subject and I don't want to ruffle any feathers. I'm not

Our town is implementing 1,500 ft. but I don't think that is enough. I think
it needs to be out in the boonies where it can't hurt the water supply, our
health, pets, livestock, etc. The drillers just need to do it safely. It's
ridiculous how many leaks gas wells have. People here call Williams Drilling

Hi,

I just wanted to let you know that the FeLV+ momcat (Tangy) and her 2 kittens
made it safely to Second Chance Meows in Reno. I know, because after an urgent
call from Michael, founder of Second Chance, my husband and I drove down and
picked them up from the shelter in Rancho Cucamonga on 6-27.

I was able to find safe transport by car to Lake Tahoe for them about 4 days
later. Michael from Second Chance was able to drive to meet the kind lady who
offered space in her car for them from Fillmore, CA to Lake Tahoe and bring
them home to his sanctuary in Reno.

I wanted to send a BIG warm Thank You to Amy at R.C. city shelter, Wendy who
transported the kitties, her aunt who kindly emailed about 300 pilots and her
family members about needy kitties needing transportation, Michael who opened
his heart and home to 3 more felines in need, and last but certainly not least,
to all of the other people who helped keep this sweet momcat and her 2 babies
alive until they reached sanctuary.

I'm right there with ya, Lynda. I believe in what they're now calling big
government, because I believe everybody deserves a safety net, but part of
the big should actually be good -- i.e. agencies that aren't in the
pockets of even bigger businesses who make us sick and destroy our lands and
animals, and then lie about it.

Subject: [Felvtalk] Sunscreens increase skin cancer

We were talking about the FDA last week - here's another perfect example
of how one cannot even trust them on something as simple as sunscreen
ingredients! And all this, WITH what we think are strict regulations - and
those who want to do away with ALL regulations, making it easier for big
corporations to make more money, makes one wonder whether they ever
 consider
even their own families in their quest for more and more profits?

Whom can one trust, if the FDA, supposedly protecting us from bad things,

Study: Many sunscreens increase skin cancer risk, FDA has known for a

 their stated purpose...

[Felvtalk] FeLV Vaccine

2011-07-14 Thread Lynda Wilson
Do any of you have a strong opinion on what Feline Leukemia vaccine to use?
I've heard there is a killed virus or a live virus. What is your preference?
I've heard there is a new one that is out and it's a live virus.

Thanks so much!
