Annie's behavior towards other cats sounds a little like my Angelina (FeLV negative, passed in 2009). I figured her motto was the best defense is a good offense! I believe Angelina was motivated by fear, and she dealt with it by acting tough and chasing the other cats, and making them afraid of her so they would leave her alone. Unfortunately, she did this one too many times, and the others began to stand up to her. She ended up with her own room, much of the time with stacked baby gates in place of the door. Later on, I was able to remove the baby gates because she stayed in the room, and the others wouldn't go in. Then one day I noticed a loud noise didn't startle her. I tested with various noisemakers behind her, where she couldn't see them or feel puffs of air from them, and she showed no response at all. She was totally deaf!! I had her for several years and never knew! She was a tuxedo, not an all-white cat with blue eyes, so the possibility never occurred to me. And she compensated very well. HAVE YOU TRIED VITAMIN SUPPLEMENTS FOR KRAMER? ANNIE CAME FROM A LADY DYING FROM CANCER. IF SHE COULD NOT FIND HER A HOME, WAS GOING TO HAVE HER PUT DOWN. SHE HAD BEEN ONLY CAT IN SINGLE TRAILER WITH KATHY ALL HER 4 YEARS. MY VET KEPT ASKING IF I WANTED TO TAKE HER. I WASN'T SURE AS I HAD ONE CAT LEFT FROM MY ORIGINAL GROUP AND ALSO FATHER WAS HERE AND SHE WOULD HAVE TO ADAPT TO MUCH, NOT TO MENTION A LARGE HOUSE AND BASEMENT .KATHY'S SISTER WENT TO HER TRAILER, CHANGED THE BOX, PUT OUT FOOD AND WATER AND THAT WAS IT FOR 3 WEEKS. THEN SHE WAS STUFFED IN A CARDBOARD BOX AND BROUGHT TO THE VET I PUT HER IN A CARRIER AND BROUGHT HER HOME. SHE STAYED IN THE BASEMENT FOR 2 WEEKS, COMING UP FOR FOOD AT NIGHT WHEN ALL WAS QUIET. THEN, SHE CAME UP AND STAYED UP BUT BEGAN THE SCREAMING, CHASING AND SLAPPING EVERY TIME SNUGLES CAME NEAR HER AND RAN FROM FATHER AND I. THEN I GOT HOMEY FROM SOMEONE WHO WAS GOING TO TAKE HER OUT AND DUMP HER BECAUSE SHE WAS INCONVENIENT AND FAIRLY SOON AFTER THAT, CASEY AND LIL BIT, NITNOY AND LAST 2 THREE MONTH OLD KITTENS, HARLEY AND DEE. THE SCREAMS ARE NOT AS LOUD NOW AND THE OTHER NIGHT SHE LAID IN MY LAP ON THE RECLINER THE SAME TIME DEE WAS THERE. IF I CAN HOLD HER LONG ENOUGH FOR HER TO SETTLE DOWN, THE WILL TOLERATE OTHERS NEAR HER. I THINK SHE WOULD BE HAPPY IN A ONE CAT HOUSE, BUT NOW SHE IS AT HOME HERE, ANOTHER CHANGE MIGHT DO HER IN. LIL BIT AND CASEY DIED OF OLD AGE, NITNOY WAS MY OTHER FELV AND PASSED AFTER 2 YEARS. OTHER THAN THE SNEEZING (GOING TO VET TO BE SURE NOT SERIOUS) AND OBSESSIVE/COMPULSIVE LICKING AT CERTAIN SPOTS ON HER LEGS, SHE SEEMS CONTENT, EATS WELL, SLEEPS ON MY BED (HER BED)WHICH ON ONE ELSE IS ALLOWED ON. ALL THESE BABIES WE BRING HOME HAVE BOTH EMOTIONAL AND PHYSICAL PROBLEMS THAT WE DON'T ALWAYS KNOW HOW TO DEAL WITH. I JUST WISH THEY COULD TALK AND TELL US ABOUT THEIR ACHES AND PAINS SO WE COULD HELP THEM BETTER. I WATCH THEM LIKE A HAWK AND CONSTANTLY FEEL FOR BUMPS . EVERYONE HERE THINKS I AM CRAZY, THEY ARE JUST CATS. CATS THAT HAVE TAKEN OVER MY HEART AND GIVEN ME SO MUCH, THEY DESERVE THE BEST I CAN GIVE THEM. JUST TESTED ANNIE FOR HEARING. DON'T THINK THAT IS A PROBLEM. THAT IS ANOTHER PROBLEM, THEY ARE CONDITIONED BY NATURE TO NOT DISPLAY ANY ILLNESS OR INJURY THAT THEY KEEP US FROM KNOWING THEY ARE HURTING. Re: [Felvtalk] Wheezing
OK, my memory isn't so good, but I did some digging and found a video I took in January 2012 of him wheezing (about 1 and a half years before he was diagnosed FeLV). So I guess it's been a longer issue. But has never really interfered with quality of life. Re: [Felvtalk] Wheezing
DO YOU THINK HE IS ACTUALLY WHEEZING (LUNGS, ETC) OF SNEEZING BECAUSE THIS SOUNDS LIKE ANNIE'S SNEEZES AND AS I SAID, HER LUNGS ARE CLEAR. COULD HE HAVE DEVEOPED AN ALLERGY ALONG WITH THE PNEUMONIA? ANNIE DOES SNEEZE ON EXERTION, MY DUSTING, RUNNING VACUMN, THINS LIE THAT. LAST NIGHT I WAS UN DOING A CROCHET PIECE TO USE THE YARN IN SOMETHING ELSE AND OF COURSE, SHE WAS SITTING ON MY LAP AND BEGAN SNEEZING. THIS GOES ON FOR A BIT AND THEN SHE STOPS. I GUESS I AM TRYING TO AVOID A GUILT TRIP FOR NOT TAKING HER TO THE VET. SHE HAS A BAD HISTORY: WAS ONLY CAT SO DOES NOT SHARE WELL. NOT RELLY SURE IF IT IS JEALOUSY WANTING TO B ONLY ONE OR FEAR. AS A RESULT, I HAVE PUT SOE OF THESE SNEEZES DOWN TO PANIC ATTACKS. HAS KRAMER HAD ANY WEIRD PROBLEMS LIKE THIS? IN THE VIDEO, HE SEEMS PETTY LAID BACK. Katherine K. kaths...@gmail.com wrote: He hasn't always had the wheezing. He tested negative for FeLV before I started fostering kittens several years ago.
