Re: [Felvtalk] cat attract

2012-11-14 Thread Martha Walton
My 12 yr old cat recently wet the bed (and #2 on the couch twice). I got
Dr. Esley's Cat Attract and all my cats love, love, love it. Meanwhile, to
keep my furniture safe, I put vinyl tablecloths (cheap) over my bed and
sofa during the day. I also covered my mattress and couch with waterproof
mattress covers, too. The vinyl tablecloths have flannel on the back and
it keeps it from slipping around. I found them at Target.

[Felvtalk] Bedwetting cat solution

2012-11-05 Thread Martha Walton
Went to the store that the mattress came from. They sold me a waterproof
cover for $40.
I got one for both of the beds in the house. The man says it works great
for pet problems. I put the cover under the mattress pad. I hope it works.

I put vinegar/water on the soiled spot and it dried quickly with the
ceiling fan on high.

We have a recently adopted cat and there are some battles going on in the
house. I might try the feliway diffuser.

Oh, also I wanted to add that my couch is covered with carpet protector
that is held onto the couch with upholstery Twist Pins. On top of that are
two slipcovers. That's how I have my couch protected. It's pretty comfy.

Who was that on this board who said to let the cats have the house and the
humans can live in the closets? ha ha ha

[Felvtalk] Kitten Sitting & cat wet the bed

2012-11-05 Thread Martha Walton
The kittens were recently wormed for round worms. The owner is taking them
to the vet today at 10:30. The kittens had thrown up & more diarrhea
overnight.

I have another problem that I need help with. One of my cats peed on the
bed yesterday, urine down to the matress.
I need some odor spray recommendations.
Also, does anybody recommend some kind of waterproof mattress pad cover?

Re: [Felvtalk] Kitten Sitting, need suggestion

2012-11-04 Thread Martha Walton
Thanks Kathryn & Christiane.
Both kittens just had diarrhea, no blood in the stool & no blood in the
vomit.

She is feeding them wet food, Friskies/wet and Meow Mix/wet. I have tried
to get the kittens to eat Before Grain wet food, but they will not eat it.
The kittens will lap up a little water, but nothing excessive. Problem is,
they walk away and vomit up the water.

Kittens were eating good Wednesday, Thursday & Friday. I gave them some
dry food on Thursday or Friday night, Natures Variety Instinct. Maybe
their tummies just didn't like the new food.

I am very worried, the kittens go back to their home tomorrow AM. The
kittens have had the first round of shots & testing. I have called their
human parents twice and left two messages.

[Felvtalk] Kitten Sitting, need suggestion

2012-11-04 Thread Martha Walton
I am kitten-sitting two kittens this weekend for a friend. The kittens ate
well for the first two days, but yesterday they turned their nose up at
food. Today neither kitten is eating and they are both throwing up water.
Yesterday one of the kittens had diarrhea. Neither has done #2 today.
Both kittens are playful, drinking water and alert, but I am very worried
about them not eating. I have called their owner and left a message about
the vomiting.

The owner says that both kittens have been tested for "all diseases". I
have not let the kittens have contact with my 5 house-cats. Today one of
my cats had some diarrhea, so I am hoping that the kittens are not getting
my cats sick..

Any suggestions? The kittens go back to their house tomorrow at 10:00am.

I am using Tidy Cats Pure Nature for their cat litter.

Re: [Felvtalk] President

2012-10-05 Thread Martha Walton
I have a cat question: I just bought some Advantage flea drops and whew,
it's expensive. I have 5 cats, one of which has a horrible flea-bite
allergy. Usually I only have to use the drops in the summer months. All
the cats get the drops. Does anyone have any suggestions on cheaper flea
drop alternatives? The cat with the flea-bite allergy is so sensitive, she
can't even get the drops every month, I have to space it out.
I saw on Amazon.com that there are other Advantage drops, one of which
includes cats & rabbits and it is a bit cheaper, packaged for Europe...has
anyone tried it?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [Felvtalk] me and my kitties will pray for Barnaby

2012-09-19 Thread Martha Walton
Beth, have you gone to the house and called Barnaby? Maybe he will
recognize your voice. Recently I adopted a semi-feral kitten that escaped
outside (never open cage door outside to pet cute kitty, duh). The woman
feeding the kitten had to come over and catch the kitten, the kitten came
to her voice. Now kitten is inside and well-adjusted. Maybe Barnaby is
waiting to hear your voice. My thoughts are with Barnaby, I pray he pulls
through.

My neighbor puts out moth balls to keep raccoons & possums away, but cats

2011-11-19 Thread Martha Walton
John, I know that Tigger would want you to have your heart open to a cat in
need (Storm).
You have the support of a great fellowship of cat lovers.
Over the past 2 years I have lost 3 cats to old age/disease and I
immediately found 3 loving cats that needed a home.
Nothing will replace Tigger, but every new cat brings so much joy.
Good luck with all things feline.

Re: [Felvtalk] Feline Leukemia Question

2011-08-04 Thread Martha Walton
The family that owned Peaches found her abandoned outside a vacant
apartment. Their neighbor moved out, but left the cat. They took Peaches
to the vet to discover that Peaches already was spayed. I don't know why
the Vet gave her Feline Leukemia vaccinations without testing her first.
They kept Peaches for almost 2 years and properly vetted her, wife had a
baby and they didn't want Peaches anymore. That's how Peaches came to live
here.

I am going to take her to the Vet to have her tested and will go ahead and
give Nibbles vaccinations.
I'll let you know what the vet says.
Thanks for all your help!! It has been hard to get information about what
to do.

[Felvtalk] Feline Leukemia Question

2011-08-03 Thread Martha Walton
We have a new addition (Peaches) to my household, making a total of 4 cats.
Need advice on Feline Leukemia Vaccinations.

I have not introduced new cat (Peaches) to my other cats, as I want to make
sure all are safe against feline leukemia. Peaches is up to date with all
shots, but waiting on vet to do fecal because I saw a tapeworm.
Peaches is sequestered to basement. Very comfy down there.

Here's the situation:

*Peaches* (New Cat)
Age: 4.5 yr
Current vaccination for Feline Leukemia, but *was never tested* before
vaccination.
Peaches was never tested for Feline Leukemia, she was given 1st & 2nd feline
leukemia in 2009.
She also had a vaccination in 2010

I have 3 other cats:
All cats will stay indoors!

*Nibbles *(got from shelter when 1 yr. old)
Age: 2.5
Nibbles had 1st Feline Leukemia shot 3/23/11, but not 2nd Feline Leukemia
shot.
Didn't get 2nd: worrying about tumors & didn't think that I would "rescue" a
cat again and planning on keeping all cats indoors.
*However, I rescued another cat.*
Should I go ahead and give Nibbles her second shot of the series, or is it
too late??

*Littlebit*
Age: 11
Current Feline Leukemia vacc

*Lacy*
Age: 6 months
Current Feline Leukemia vacc

What do you think I should do???
Should I go ahead and give Nibbles her second shot of the series, or is it
too late??
Should I get Peaches tested for Feline Leukemia??
