[Felvtalk] Has anyone here used Vetricine for immune boosting
My Miniature Schnauzer has a host of things wrong with her.? She's on Vetricine to boost her immune system.? Since General won't eat his food with the immune support stuff in it I've been sprinkling Vetricine on it along with his lysine and he loves it.? Apparently vetricine tastes better than the immune support pills.? I've read about vetricine and I assume that it's ok for cats but I wondered if anyone else uses it or has heard of it.? It's a white powder.? And I've about given up on the interferon because he just gets so low when he takes it, after 3 days of it he's throwing up, not eating and hiding in the bedroom. Bailey also did not do well on the interferon, he would get lethargic and not eat as well, it was clear when he was on it he didn't feel well. 1 cc a day for 7 days and then off for 7 days.? he weighs 15.5 lbs.? After about 3 days he'd get punky and just not feel well, stay in the bedroom and not eat and/or throw up. Just wondering - How much of a daily dose of interferon did you give him?? ? I'd probably try reducing the dose to 1/2 cc or 3/4 cc. I generally give about 1/2 cc, sometimes upward to 1cc. But how much of a dose of interferon was in the 1 cc? Usual oral dose for cats is 30 IU a day. all I know is that my vet gave me a little vial with an eye dropper. From that I draw out 1 cc and squirt it in his mouth. The vial is small, and is only marked interferon on the label. You're right - it is a usual dose, good point. If it were making one of my cats sick, I'd probably just lower the dose, but that's just a gut reaction. I noticed when we were giving MeMe interferon daily that she became lethargic and slept a lot. We are now alternating one day on and one day off and I think that is working very well. I would tend to believe your cat before your vet.
