Karen, I'm so sorry for your loss of Cole. You did right by him. It never
feels like we have enough time with them, but I hope the happy memories you
shared bring you comfort during this time of sadness. Thank you for taking
such good care of him. I am sure he felt loved.

Re: [Felvtalk] Cole. Re: Felvtalk Digest, Vol 28, Issue 18

2016-08-19 Thread Margo
Karen, I'm so sorry.Safe to The Bridge, Cole. You will be sorely missed.Lend Me a Kitten

I will lend to you for awhile a kitten, God said.
For you to love him while he lives, and mourn him when he's dead.
Maybe for twelve or fourteen years, or maybe two or three.
But will you, 'till I call him back, take care of him for me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you and, should his stay be brief
You'll always have his memories as solace for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this boy to learn.

I've looked the whole world over in search of teachers true.
And from the folk that crowds life's land I have chosen you.
Now will you give him all your love, nor think the labor vain?
Nor hate me when I come to take my kitten home again?

I fancied that I heard them say 'Dear Lord Thy Will Be Done'
For all the joys this kitten brings, the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness, we'll love him while we may.
And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay.

But should you call him back to you, much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, and try to understand.
If, by our love we've managed your wishes to achieve,
Then in memory of him whom we loved, please help us while we grieve.
When our cherished kitten departs this world of strife,
Please send yet another needing soul for us to love, for life.

Don?t listen about the steroids and the liver. Stanazolol brought my cat
back from a red cell count of 10. If there is a problem with the liver, what
is the downside here? If the Stanazolol doesn?t work and the liver gets
worse, there is probably little or anything else that will work. If the
Stanazolol works, you will have another opportunity to deal with the liver
down the road and I frankly think that once your cat starts eating again,
this will be supportive for the liver as well.

Additionally, the Stanazolol should be given with 1 mg of Prednisone daily,
which is also helpful to the liver.

Yes - I mg 2x a day Winstrol and ? tablet of prednisone (5mg) 2x a
day.

Try the meds for a few days and see what the response is like. If
necessary, double the Winstrol for a week or two. But for now, give it
a few days. When I thought about our exchange some more, I actually
thought that maybe the early response you got was from the prednisone
because the Winstrol takes a few more days to have an effect that is
noticeable.

That is the correct dose for Prednisone. But you mention only a single

I'm so sorry that you are having such bad luck with Cole I know it's
heartbreaking.   Stanazole may hold the most promise ( per Amani's
experiences) if you can get your hands on it in time    I'm a little
surprised that the Cornell Vet made no mention of transfusion and
recommended Cyproheptadine for appetite stim when the standard now ( as
I understand it) is mirtazapine.( at least according to my vet...who
prescribed this over Cyp___  for my guy Yogi)   Sometimes it gets
wearying having to second guess Vets all the time with Felv+ Kitties
there appears to BE no best practices when it comes to treating this
disease Seems most vets treat the Sequelae and don't go after the
disease process itself and even then they don't appear to be paying
a lot of attention to anemia and the many other methods of raising RBC
count...  In another 10 yrs I expect that STEM cell treatment will be
the standard but our problems with our Buddies are happening NOW..
I hope you pick up enough info here to help you now and in the
future.

Thank goodness that the word about Stanazolol is starting to get out
to these vets. This is very heartening to me.

I replied incorrectly to your question on this thread. Bit of amateur.
I am in Fort Wayne, IN

Where are you located??We have been back and forth SO many times
here about how to get a vet to prescribe Stanazole and here your vet
prescribes it unbidden At least for a Felv+ cat I'd stay with
this one for a while Really hope your Kitty responds..

Amani, I talked to a vet at Cornell U at their consult services today
for a second opinion since things are not going well for Cole. He
throws up almost every night after eating just a little ( tonight he
threw up just in anticipated food-- no food-- because he is so
nausea). He is going to starve to death with interferon and syringe
feeding that has turned into force feeding!

Anyway Cornell U mentioned pednisone too but not winstrol
How did you learn of this and I assume it is available in US? It
took my vet a week to get interferon (that I now read will cause
nausea, so now afraid to start it) , so afraid Cole dies nit have
another week to find winstrol! Cornell U vet recommended every other
day fluids, milk thistle and or denamarin to support liver, cerenia
injection to help with vomiting, cyproheptading to stimulate appetite.
And like i said earlier, prednisone. Also, no supportive research but
go ahead and give interferon that my vet ordered cause some have
success with. I would live ti see the rest of your posts but dont
know how to find. I have to do something different tomorrow than just
force feed and orbax amd interferon or I am certain i will loose Cole
and then probably his 2 brothers will follow from the Stress Because
they are so extremely bonded. Thanks Karen and Cole

My heart breaks for you, Kim. We've lost so many beloved cats in recent years,
and it's always so, so difficult. Having the urn will be a comfort, I hope, as
it has been for us. Cole had almost seven years with you that he probably
wouldn't have had with many other people. He was blessed with you as you were
blessed with having had him in your life. It's so hard now, I know. He'll be
with you always, and I firmly believe we'll all be with our beloved pets again.
 Peace be with you...

2008-08-26 Thread April and Jay
Kim I send hugs to you over you huge loss of Cole. Lossing a fur baby is so
very hard. It takes a long time but one day when Cole comes to your mind it
will be more happy than sad. You did what is best and couldn't have loved Cole
more.
Hugs,
April
