[issue1968] iSedora distributes a non-free build of FFmpeg
Slava vhs1...@hotmail.com added the comment: Update from the iSedora dev team: Xuggle compilation on Windows is broken so we had to completely migrate from Xuggle to plain FFmpeg. That is why it took so long to rework all internal code. From version 1.6.3 iSedora is bundled with FFmpeg compiled with the following options: Max OS X: FFmpeg version SVN-r24735, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Aug 8 2010 12:18:22 with gcc 4.2.1 (Apple Inc. build 5659) configuration: --prefix=/Users/kvl/dev/lib/dlna/mencoder --enable-gpl --disable-ffplay --disable-ffserver --enable-libx264 Windows build is taken from http://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org = FFmpeg version SVN-r24734, Copyright (c) 2000-2010 the FFmpeg developers built on Aug 7 2010 04:28:30 with gcc 4.4.2 configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --enable-libgsm --enable-pthreads --enable-libvorbis --enable-libtheora --enable-libspeex --enable-libmp3lame --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libopencore_amrwb --enable-libopencore_amrnb --enable-libvpx --arch=x86 --enable-runtime-cpudetect --enable-libxvid --enable-libx264 --extra-libs='-lx264 -lpthread' --enable-librtmp --extra-libs='-lrtmp -lpolarssl -lws2_32 -lwinmm' --target-os=mingw32 --enable-avisynth --cross-prefix=i686-mingw32- --cc='ccache i686-mingw32-gcc' --enable-memalign-hack = The program about box contains a detailed description of all bundled third party libraries and binary executables with links to web sites and source code hosted at isedora.com. If I understand correctly we should recompile Windows version to eliminate --enable-version3 flag. We will do it on the coming week and post report here. Let me say again that iSedora does not use non free code of FFmpeg. It was bundled with Xuggler which is compiled with this option by default. We totally reworked internal architecture to get rid of Xuggler and avoid any license violations. Thank you. FFmpeg issue tracker iss...@roundup.ffmpeg.org https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/issue1968

Ronald S. Bultje rsbul...@gmail.com added the comment: (Xuggle isn't interesting because it's opensource. We generally don't take legal action against them, although we might sometimes ask them to stop doing it. So I'll change the topic to reflect that most discussion here will likely be about iSedora, not so much Xuggle, unless others want me to email the Xuggle developers also.) iSedora is indeed a violation, and not a small one. The company is registered in Russia. I've asked SFLC if there's anything they can do for us over there. -- title: Non-free builds of FFmpeg are being distributed - iSedora distributes a non-free build of FFmpeg FFmpeg issue tracker iss...@roundup.ffmpeg.org https://roundup.ffmpeg.org/issue1968
