[Finale] Re: OS X 10.7 Lion drops support for Rosetta (PPC) apps - IT future

2011-03-07 Thread gplwf9j
Thanks for the replies on the subject of where computers are going. My
OP was a bit facetious and cynical in that I used to be a computer tech
along with being a musician. Most users probably still don't know or
care what 64-bit is even though they are being faced with software
changes to fit the newer processor architectures. Frankly, I hope that
global enterprise and government don't force all the changes they want
on us - much too restrictive and like everyone wearing the same suit.
Windows, at least in rumor, is moving toward 128-bit and toying with
RISC, which has been around a long time - Atari, eMac, in game boxes,
etc. Finale requires a moderate amount of memory, a reasonably robust
processor and adequate audio resources. Macs provide this quite well
with latest Core Audio and Core MIDI versions. I suppose the day is
coming (maybe already here) when we won't require a desktop with a sound
card to get the full potential out of Finale Windows.

[Finale] test

2011-03-07 Thread Ryan Beard
Just a test. I sent a message to the list, but no one answered. It's
happened before so I'm wondering if it's a problem with my emails not
getting through. If it's personal, and no one wants to help me, I guess I'll
take my ball and go home!

[Finale] Arrgghh! Default file location problems.

2011-03-07 Thread Andrew Levin
Hi, all.

I can *swear* I'm doing everything right, and yet I'm stifled. When pressing
command-N for a new document Finale tells me that it can't find the Maestro
Font Default file and will create a new one. First, my specs:

MacPro Dual Core 2 GHz
MacOS 10.6.6
Finale 2011c.r1

I went to:

user/Library/Application Support/MakeMusic/Finale 2011/Music Files/Default
Files

And changed Maestro Font Default to Maestro Font Default.orig, then
placed my new and improved Maestro Font Default in its place. It's the
original default file with lots of small changes (and it opens just fine
when I double click on it in the Finder).

Under Program options I've selected the folder listed above. I've restarted
many times. I've also deleted the folder entirely, placed my new files in
the harddrive path to the same files, then used MakeMusic's supplied
Terminal app to move files from there to my own user folder (as I tried by
hand earlier). After resetting the Program Options again to look in the
Default Files in the user path and restarting, still no luck. I even
pointed to harddrive path. Still no luck.

What am I missing?

I know people have offered solutions to this in the past, but my set-up was
working, so didn't pay attention.

I would appreciate any help that could be given. (I'm also on the digest, so
my replies might take day).

Thank you.

Andrew Levin

I believe it is supposed to be
~/Libraries/Application\ Support/MakeMusic/Finale\ 2011/Libraries/

The one under Music Files dir is a backup copy.

2011-03-07 Thread Michael Mathew
Your email came through my account here just fine. I just had to set this up as
an alternative to my other account from which I have not received mail from the
list for over two week. I have set up this account to discover where the
problem might be if I can.

My other account has bounced back as undeliverable a couple of times previously
and I've enquired to the head master if he's still receiving bounce-back
replies from my other account.

I'm truly puzzled and am not a systems analyst so I'm also wondering?
