Re: [Finale] Templates

2015-02-26 Thread David Woodard
It happens with 2012 also, part of it appears to be a Windows 8 issue, I do
not see the same sub directories with saving and opening files. Have
wasted so much time trying to get IPA syllables in a Warm-up and after I
kinda get it right, the file either won't open or disappears.

Just to double-check: You selected the entire document *first*, before the

Well, I learn something new every day.

Yes, cmd 'R' DOES produce the rulers, never noticed that while intent on
dispelling ghosts, but it does
remove them. Check it out and let me know.

I just opened Finale 2011 and command + R in the menu toggles the RULER. To
update use Command + U and to draw/redraw the screen use Command + D. That is
what is programmed in the drop down menus in Finale 2011 and newer.

I don't recall the exact setup of 2009, but I think it hasn't changed much.

Choose the Midi tool and select the whole score. From the Midi Tools menu,
select "Edit Key Velocities" and choose 'clear'. You can do the same for "Edit
Note Durations" and "Edit Tempo".

[Finale] Ghost Dynamic Effects in Playback

2015-02-26 Thread Michael Lawlor
[Finale 2009]
I have made some significant changes to a piece, moving large chunks
around and deleting music. The result is that some of the dynamics
heard in playback are now bizarre, even though there are no dynamics
displayed in the score. I suspect there maybe dynamics hiding that are
still making their presence known. Is there somewhere I can reset
dynamics and not have to enter the music from scratch?

Thanks, yes, that's what you're looking at both in that Finale screencap and
in the later PDF screencap that I posted.

I don't like it, though. Nor do I like the composer's original notation. I
would have put the beam below. (With the exception of the rare stray note, I
don't like a beam in the middle of groups of notes; I think it looks homely
and doesn't help reading.)

each staff then in a high magnification merge the beams.
