So many things about Score Manager take away functionality from previous
versions.

Re: [Finale] Change Instrument for 1 bar

2012-09-03 Thread Randolph Peters
Thanks Christopher and Robert,

I always feel better when I know it is a feature. ;)

It does break the conventions and standards of how the program operates and it
takes away functionality from previous versions, so I will lobby MM for a
change.

Re: [Finale] Change Instrument for 1 bar

2012-09-03 Thread Christopher Smith
Yes, that is how it works. If you only want an instrument change for one
measure, just select the measure AFTER the instrument change and set it back to
the first instrument. No worries.

In your case, set the FIRST instrument to something you know before starting,
so you can change it back again afterwards. Or just rename it so you can find
it in the list.

I wish I could have instrument changes/transposing staff styles that work on
partial measures.

2012-09-03 Thread Robert Patterson
It's a feature not a bug! That is, they mean for it work that way, but by
all means write it up:

Workarounds:

1 Change the staff lines with a staff style (which is what I did).

2 It may be possible to select the rest of the staff after the single bar
and change it to the other instrument. I can't remember if I tried it.

Re: [Finale] Change Instrument for 1 bar

2012-09-03 Thread Randolph Peters
I don't know if Robert Patterson got an answer to his question from last April,
but I've only now realized there is a bug in the change instrument command.
(Finale 2012b)

If you choose 1 measure, the changes apply to the rest of the staff. If you
select 2 measures or more, the changes work on the selected passage.

Can anyone else confirm this before I send in my report to MM?

Thanks.

[Finale] Change Instrument for 1 bar

2012-04-01 Thread Robert Patterson
Is there any way to edit the instrument-change map directly? I need to
change the instrument for 1 bar on a bass drum part so that I can add a
cue, but when I only select one bar it changes the part from there forward
rather than just for the selected bar. Normally, I could change back in the
next bar, but this is a file imported from an earlier version, so the base
instrument is "Unknown" which makes it impossible to select in the Change
Instrument dialog.
