Re: [Finale] GROUPS, barlines, instr names

2012-07-05 Thread JRB
Hi Kim -
Groups were reworked in 2011. The short answer is to double click a handle on
the brace of the 1st system. Make any changes you want to the group setup here
(ie. unchecking show group name). In the upper right hand corner you'll see
the group has a defined range. Checking all measures for this group
definition will apply it to the entire part.

On piano parts, some grand staves have barlines reaching through the
staves (treble and bass) the way I want them to, but other systems, later on
in the part have barlines only on EACH staff. What is the remedy for that? In
Staff Tool/Groups I have designated I want barlines THROUGH both staves.
Also, so systems have have Piano out to the left. In Staff Tool/Groups I
have designated No Name, also, in the Staff dialog, I have no name.

Thanks JB. Checking all measures does it for the barlines. However, the staff
name piano still appears to the left of SOME systems. When I select the
handle on one it eliminates the staff name on THAT page (and that page only),
but also eliminates the name from the score (which I don't want). Any solution
there?
Thanks,
All the best,
KIM R

Can't be sure what is happening without seeing it but try this:

Go back to your score and make sure you have defined the piano group throughout
the whole chart. Now return to the part and change the group to not display the
name. That might fix your problem. Generating the piano part again may also do
it but you may not want lose the work you've done on it. Also, make sure you're
changing the group definition to not display the name as opposed to deleting
it. You can definitely have the score label and remove it in the part - there
just seems to be a necessary order to doing it.

Hope that helps!
