[Finale] Re: TRANSPOSITION

2004-12-15 Thread Kim Richmond
OK thanks. Incidentally, using Special Part Extraction I also have my
extracted parts all as separate files, saved that way as I go down the
score tweaking each one (which after the first part, goes very fast). I
end up with all separate files and at the end, I make the last part
back into a score (with all the tweaks and corrections) and save it as
such.
Thanks, as always, for your help.

Go to the Transposition dialog for the staff.
Instead of using the canned Eb transposition, select Other. Then set
the
Interval to 6 and the Key Alter to -9. Voila.

If you want standard Eb transposition for other parts of the piece, you
can use a Staff Style to apply the special transposition to only the
part of the piece that is in A major.

Maybe somebody can come up with the answer to this.
I've got a piece in A concert. The alto saxophone part, when
transposed,
appears in F#, and I would rather have it appear in Gb. Selecting
Simplify Key in Transposition dialog of Staff attributes doesn't do
it.
Also selecting Favor Flats in OptionEnharmonic Spelling does not do
it.
Any answers?
All the best,
KIM

Thanks David, but I AM the sax player that is going to read this, and I
would much rather see Gb myself than the key of F#. What you suggest
will work fine, I just didn't want to have to think about changing back
when, at the end of extracting parts in Special Part Extraction, I
produce a concert score.
Thanks again,

The sax player's gonna kill you either way for putting it in so many
flats or sharps, but most alto players I know would far prefer sharps.
But, if you insist on it being in Gb, once you have extracted the Alto
part simply remove the transposition and change the key to be Gb and
you'll be all set.
