[Finale] bulk multimeasure update?
FinMac 2K4. Is there any way to update the multimeasure rest symbol for a whole folder full of ochestral parts at once when updating them from 2K2 to 2K4? And how about the Page Setup dialog? No way, this is not accessible from FinaleScript. I had to do it by hand in 600 files! And how about the Page Setup dialog? Re: [Finale] bulk multimeasure update?
Mmm, yes! You have to make a FinaleScript script with this content batch process folder don't process current document import multimeasure rests options save and append _2k4 close all Then open one file of the set of parts, and change the multimeasure rest manually. This will be your master file for batch processing the folder. Run the script and you are done. Hope it helps. Javier Ruiz. P.S. FinaleScript is great, but Makemusic should include more examples. Re: [Finale] bulk multimeasure update?
Many thanks to Brad and Javier for their advice on this. I thought FinaleScript (wh. I have never previously used) might be of use. A couple of questions though: 1) The first step in upgrading the multimeasure rest symbol is to import the Measure Rest library, and that doesn't seem to be covered in the script. After that is done, updating the Multimeasure Rests Options involves selecting the new symbol, which will have been added to the Shape Selection palette as the last item there. The problem, though, is that there is no guarantee that any two given files (much less 24 of them) will have the same number of shapes in this palette, so the number that must be entered in the Multimeasure Rests Options dialog will not necessarily be the same in all files. Comment? 2) After that is taken care of, there is another pair of steps to take, for the new shape will not actually replace the old multimeasure rests in the score until you select all these rests (cmd-A will do), break them, and recreate them. Perhaps an additional script is necessary? One final problem, though I don't think it will be an issue for this particular project, is that when you do these last two steps, you lose any editing of individual mm-rests that had been done (width of measure, adjusted start- or end-point, etc.), and have to redo it all. Any thought on avoiding this? Andrew Stiller Kallisti Music Press http://home.netcom.com/~kallisti/ ___ Finale mailing list Finale@shsu.edu http://lists.shsu.edu/mailman/listinfo/finale
