[Fink-devel] gcc -ggdb problem

2003-01-13 Thread Jan Ruzicka
Hi Group

did anybody see problems with gcc when you specify option '-ggdb'?

When I use '-g' it is OK, but when I use '-ggdb' gcc throws simetimes:

	1) "Internal compiler error in build_abbrev_table, at
dwarf2out.c:6022"
	or
 2) it breaks the intermediate .s file
		('Expected comma after segment-name'
'Rest of line ignored. 1st junk character valued 76 (L).' )
   and
		Multiple symbols.
  ('Symbol _XXX already defined')

I am using Dec DevTools.
The gcc returns:

Reading specs from /usr/libexec/gcc/darwin/ppc/3.1/specs
Thread model: posix
Apple Computer, Inc. GCC version 1175, based on gcc version 3.1
20020420 (prerelease)

Is there any bug tracking site for problems like this?
I would like to see if other users have similar problems and how they
work around them.

Sorry if this is too much off-topic.

[Fink-devel] ethereal

Hi Max

I'm trying to update fink on my computer but the update always crashes

Unstable tree is used.

It shows always the same error :

before this error there is:

mkdir .libs
rm -f .libs/ethereal.nm .libs/ethereal.nmS .libs/ethereal.nmT
creating .libs/etherealS.c
generating symbol list for `ethereal'
extracting global C symbols from `packet-aarp.o'

etherealS.c:1972: syntax error, found `@'

Any advice?

I know that it seems like implementing the function dwim(x) where x is
an expression and meaning of the function is Do What I Mean by x.
But it was a first thought. Purpose was to address situation as you
described in point 1 of your letter later.

to people that want to use an install CD to quickly install this stuff

CD image should be snapshot of the given installation at the creation
time to be able to replicate exactly on another computer.

Use Case: Sysadmin with bunch of computers without LAN available.

Another Case: Sysadmin with bunch of computers with LAN available.

This should be addressed by some possibility of proxy/local fink server.
As you stated before.

But i think we are discussing two different CD sets by the purpose
- one 'the distribution' which would contain a complete set of
fink packages made fo release.
  - second 'the help disc' just a local tool for spreading the
fink / packages.

??

What about another commands for fink
- 'make-image ' for making ISO image(s) of the given distribution
- 'update-from ' for installing stuff from CD

Is that a bad idea?
I'm speaking for the lazy ones.
??

[Fink-devel] Doxygen and Graphviz

2002-03-29 Thread jan . ruzicka

can those two be separated ?

On the requested packages list they are listed together, but Doxygen
can run without Graphviz, and Graphviz without Doxygen.
the Doxygen can have the Graphviz in dependency, because than it can
produce nicer graphs.

The general question is can the requests be separated?

Because Wiki allows simple editing and amd manipulation and on client

I tried http://twiki.org which works pretty good.
