Rebuilding glib2 (2.8.0-122) did not help.

I am running MacOSX 10.4.2, Fink 0.24.10 and Xcode 2.1.

I get those assertions too (10.3.9, xcode-1.5) both running yelp
directly and when yelp is invoked from the Help menu of gnome
apps. But then yelp runs without crashing. Either 10.4 is
different in

how it handles those assertions or the actual crash (bus error) is
actually caused by something else. There are some XML errors in the
gnome-doc-utils support package that are in the process of being
fixed...perhaps that's the critical problem here?

I just upgrdaed gnome-doc-utils to 0.2.2-1, which gives only one
assertion, and also cures a boatload of later XSLT errors. Any
improvement in the situation for you? Also, what's your language
setting--does changing it help? I'm kinda shooting blind here:(

I still get the bus error with gnome-doc-utils 0.4.1-1 and yelp

Had a couple of thoughts:

1) Maybe it would be better to link against firefox, since that's
actually maintained.

2) I wonder if mozilla / firefox can be made to use the system's
openssl so that we don't have to worry about yelp becoming crypto and
thereby include it as part of GNOME rather than putting a note in the
docs that nobody will read.

Should be fine (I don't have ffox compiled yet so I can't test it).
Would be easy enough to have variants and use update-alternatives too
if people really want the choice (it's a compile-time option, not a
run-time preference).

Mozilla appears to be intrinsically cryto...there are no deps for
openssl nor does otool appear to have any links to it.

they use their own NSPR (netscape portable runtime library) that
implements crypto and various other things.
