The missing symbol is defined in libintl.8.dylib, but there is no
-lintl or explicit /sw32/lib/libintl.dylib here. My guess is that
one of the other dependencies of gtkhtml3.14 used to pass that
information along, but doesn't do that anymore.
This looks like it won't require a new revision, since the package just
flat won't build as-is, so we'll let you (and the list) know when a fix

I did a defaults write org.macrosforge.X11.app app_to_run /opt/X11/bin/xterm
When I start X11.app the menu option Terminal does not start an xterm.
What am I doing wrong?
TIA

This isn't a Fink-related question at all.

One thing you might check is whether running /opt/X11/bin/xterm from a
standard OS X Terminal window runs an xterm. If not, then try logging
out or rebooting to clear any running X11-related processes, since those
can interfere with new windows opening.

Let me amend that. It's slightly possible that Fink might be involved.

out or rebooting to clear any running X11-related processes, since those

Or, you might get an error message, and that will point at the problem.

The Terminal entry in the Applications menu is part of an array. You can edit
that array, apps_menu, from the Applications menu.

The meaning of app_to_run might have been or still is that at least one X
client is launched when no ~/.xinitrc file or an empty ~/.xinitrc.d directory
exists.

Right. app_to_run is independent of the entries in the X11 Applications
menu. It might be that the PATH in X11 is such that xterm no longer
suffices.

Oops, quick on the Send button.

See if changing the Terminal entry to /opt/X11/bin/xterm works.

Indeed! X11 has, presumingly, set only a rudimentary PATH setting. It is
different from what other native Mac OS X applications inherit. It's useful
to set in ~/.xinitrc or ~/.xinitrc.d/50-clients.sh, which launches the
desktop and its applications (the window manager comes in a later script,
~/.xinitrc.d/96-fluxbox.sh or whatever), so that the interactive applications
can inherit a useful PATH setting.
