[Fink-users] gtk-sharp2 install failure
I am having trouble getting gtk-sharp2 to install. I am using fresh install of the unstable fink tree and have installed bundle-gnome, mono, and mono-tools first (along a few other things). I use OS X 10.4.8 on a PPC G4 powerbook. I have tried to diagnose the problem but my knowledge of fink internals is pretty limited. The problem seems to be related to pango1-xft2{,-ft219}-dev. In pango1-xft2-ft219.info it says that the -ft219 versions can co-exist with the non-ft219 versions. But this is false for pango1-xft2-ft219-dev which "conflicts with" and "replaces" pango1-xft-dev (and vise-versa). I think this is the cause of the problem below. Also, I find it strange that the gtk-sharp2.info file lists BOTH pango1-xft2-dev and pango1-xft2-ft219-dev in its depends. I'm not sure if the proper way to fix this is to make pango1-xft2-dev and pango1-xft2-ft219-dev co-exist or remove one of the pango1 dependencies from gtk-sharp2 (or something else entirely). It would seem the -ft219 versions are used by very few packages. Thanks for any assistance, Bob In any case here is the error I get: $ fink install gtk-sharp2 Password: Information about 7231 packages read in 2 seconds. [Fink-users] GNU coreutils and binutils
Why are the GNU coreutils and binutils packages not included in Fink? These seem like pretty basic stuff that I imagine lots of people would want (since many of the gnu commands are much nicer than the BSD ones that come with Darwin). Do they break the system somehow? I've noticed that Darwinports has them. Has anyone tried them? Thanks, Bob __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! [Fink-users] selfupdate problem
I just tried installing fink on a new Mac G5 Quad, OSX 10.4.5, XCode 2.1, and cannot get past the fink selfupdate command (after running fink scanpackages and fink index as requested). If so, > go for the rebuild. Well, I do not think that the problem is that glib (or pango, etc) are missing but that the incorrect gcc command is issued by libtool. I found the generated.c file and if I add the compilier options from pkg-config for gtk+2 pkg-config --cflags gtk+-2.0 -I/sw/include/glib-2.0 -I/sw/lib/glib-2.0/include -I/sw/include/pango-1.0 -I/usr/X11R6/include -I/usr/X11R6/include/freetype2 -I/sw/include/gtk-2.0 -I/sw/include/atk-1.0 -I/sw/lib/gtk-2.0/include then the compile above works. For some reason the 1st 3 and last 3 of these includes are missing in the command issued by libtool (shown above) and this is what causes all the errors. I still do not know how to fix the fink package for gtk-sharp2 but maybe these comments will help those that know more about this stuff (and I think it narrows down the problem to the gtk-sharp2 package, at least on 10.3). Anyone have any ideas. Thanks, Bob __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com --- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. [Fink-users] gtk-sharp2 install fails
I cannot get gtk-sharp2 to install. The bottom of the error message is below (the are a LOT more vte errors and warnings). I am on OS X 10.3.9 and am using a new install version of fink, converted to unstable and installed a few packages (emacs, gtk+2, mono, mono-dev, gtk-sharp). Gtk-sharp installs fine but gtk-sharp2 does not (I tried both before and after installing gtk-sharp and get the same error). Anyone have any suggestions.
