[Firebird-devel] [FB-Tracker] Created: (CORE-3957) gbak does not have option to turn off no_reserve
gbak does not have option to turn off no_reserve Key: CORE-3957 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-3957 Project: Firebird Core Issue Type: New Feature Components: GBAK Reporter: kdv Priority: Minor Interesting, but gbak have only option -use_all_space for restore, but does not have reverse option, to turn database flag no_reserve off. gfix, instead, have -use full/reserve. Thus, if I have backup, I can't turn no_reserve off. I need to - have existing database (or restore it from backup) - run gfix -use reserve - gbak -b - gbak -c which is a bit long way. for the name of the option I can suggest -use_reserve, but it will conflict with -use_all..., because default part of the option is -use_ But, making it not default, I think, will not break any existing functionality or scripts. Can vote for any other name of this option. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira -- Everyone hates slow websites. [Firebird-devel] [FB-Tracker] Created: (CORE-4080) Disable ability to create database without path
Disable ability to create database without path --- Key: CORE-4080 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-4080 Project: Firebird Core Issue Type: Improvement Affects Versions: 2.5.2, 2.1.5, 2.0.7, 2.5.1, 2.1.4, 2.5.0, 2.0.6, 2.1.3, 2.1.2, 2.0.5, 2.1.1, 2.1.0 Reporter: kdv Currently ability to create database without path is near to security breach. Because it allows user to create database somewhere (and then user can fill it with data and consume free space on the system drive). Yes, it will be placed into system directory, but user may not find this database later. So, the requirement to specify path may save FB from some complaints. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira -- Precog is a next-generation analytics platform capable of advanced analytics on semi-structured data. [Firebird-devel] [FB-Tracker] Created: (CORE-4170) Allow (add) ability to specify database cache in kb/mb/gb
Allow (add) ability to specify database cache in kb/mb/gb - Key: CORE-4170 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-4170 Project: Firebird Core Issue Type: New Feature Components: Engine Affects Versions: 3.0 Alpha 1 Reporter: kdv I ask in addition to existing DefaultDbCachePages add new firebird.conf/database.conf parameter DefaultDBCacheSize which can be specified in kilobytes, megabytes or gigabytes of memory directly. For example, DefaultDBCacheSize = 8m i.e allocate 8 megabytes of cache for the DB. Of course, engine can divide this value by page_size and select closest round number of pages for cache. If both DefaultDbCachePages and DefaultDBCacheSize specified, bigger value can be taken. As alternative to gfix -buffers n, I think, need to be added new parameter. maybe -cachesize n ? Also we need new dpb parameter like isc_dpb_num_buffers. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira -- Get 100% visibility into Java/.NET code with AppDynamics Lite! [Firebird-devel] [FB-Tracker] Created: (CORE-5814) excessive sorting of expressions
excessive sorting of expressions Key: CORE-5814 URL: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/browse/CORE-5814 Project: Firebird Core Issue Type: Bug Components: Engine Affects Versions: 3.0.3, 2.5.7 Reporter: kdv Grouping and sorting on expression produces additional SORT in plan. Example. When we group and sort on non-indexed field select first_name, max(first_name) from employee group by 1 order by 1 we see PLAN SORT (EMPLOYEE NATURAL) i.e only one sort used for grouping and sorting. But, if we convert field to expression select first_name||'', max(first_name) from employee group by 1 order by 1 plan will have 2 sorts - for group by and order by PLAN SORT (SORT (EMPLOYEE NATURAL)) I don't know is this a real bug or engine specific, but maybe it can be fixed. In addition. If I create computed index create index bfc on employee computed by (first_name||'') plan for the last query will be PLAN SORT (EMPLOYEE ORDER BFC) So, index is used by group by, but order by still uses additional sorting. -- This message is automatically generated by JIRA. - If you think it was sent incorrectly contact one of the administrators: http://tracker.firebirdsql.org/secure/Administrators.jspa - For more information on JIRA, see: http://www.atlassian.com/software/jira -- Check out the vibrant tech community on one of the world's most engaging tech sites, Slashdot.org! http://sdm.link/slashdot Firebird-Devel mailing list, web interface at https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/firebird-devel
