[Flashcoders] Seeking Referral for Lead Flash Developer Contractor

2009-10-23 Thread AutGlass Jobs
Hello,

Does anyone have a referral to a solid Flash Developer who could be
available as a contractor?

Below is the job description:

Overview

My client operates a technology firm with the focus to design and develop
beautiful products. They’re seeking a solid lead Web Developer who is very
comfortable developing in ActionScript 3 along with other platforms, but
most importantly is a solid programmer in general regardless of the
technology.

Responsibilities

You will be helping our company develop software applications while making
use of ActionScript3 as a key technology. You will be working on some truly
unique initiatives. Our plans are bold and the software we plan to build is
radically innovative. For some development projects, you will be the owner
from end to end of the development lifecycle while on other projects, you
will be a key developer working as a small unit with one or two other
developers.

Experience

You have extensive experience developing in ActionScript along with other
platforms, but when developing in ActionScript, you prefer developing in
AS3.

You have worked with AS for over five years.

Skills

- Excellent ActionScript capabilities.

- You are not dependent on Flex and can develop OOP applications strictly
using AS3 with no Flex involved.

- You can also develop applications in other languages as well and can work
in the capacity of an architect or a lead developer.

- Database design capabilities is a plus, but not required.

Education

B.S. or B.A. Degree

Telecommute

This job does allow to work remotely.

Hi Paul,
   It's always worth a test!

   Snow Leopard has some significant differences from Leopard under
the hood, but Apple are very good at backwards compatibility. If
you're not doing anything unusual, you should be okay.

   But if you're prepared to put the app up on an FTP site or
something, I'll happily double-check it runs on Snow Leopard for you
here - I have a couple of different Snow Leopard machines. The fact
it's not on CD-ROM shouldn't make any difference.

Oh, just noticed some other posts on this, but here's some responses.

Hmm... which version of Flash are you using?

Flash CS4 on the Mac compiling to Flash Player 9 using AS2.

Is the sound in the library, or
in an external audio file?

Library sound in .wav format set to streaming.

Is the sound played with an AS command, or is it
on the time line?

On the timeline.

I'd believe that, but its pretty straightforward what I'm doing.
Import wav sound, drag to timeline, set to stream. The kink seems to
be when you but the last frame and first frame of a scene right up
against each other which I do for neatness.

You could just make an image of the OS on a usb key and then either
virtualize it, or if its an option on mac systems, boot from the usb key.

Very helpful for testing and it really only takes about 45 min from
start to finish to setup. Do this with all the different OS's you are
tailoring your apps for, and you will only need the one machine.

Due to my finally doing this myself, I am finally getting into

Hi Kevin,
   To set what's going to the printer to fit:

   Get the print pageWidth/pageHeight from the PrintJob object (after
calling start()).

   Use the scaleX, scaleY of the clip you are printing to make it fit
within that pageWidth/pageHeight.

   Call addPage(), passing the clip.

   Call send().

Alternatively, you could just rescale the original, print, then scale

Hi Kevin,
  To set what's going to the printer to fit:

  Get the print pageWidth/pageHeight from the PrintJob object (after

  Use the scaleX, scaleY of the clip you are printing to make it fit
within that pageWidth/pageHeight.

  Call addPage(), passing the clip.

  Call send().

Good afternoon,

I wrote a little flash app that loads coupons from an XML file and
formats them to display on a webpage. When going to print these, I
simply sent the canvas to the printer. However, the side of the
coupons are cut off. Is there a way to shrink what is sent to the
printer (without getting too complex) or a way to export the entire
canvas as a JPG and resize that prior to being sent to the printer?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Helmut, Grant Skinner link below might help you with your event framework.

And you can access public static constants anywhere in your application as long
as you import the class? Are you saying this is not true?
