In earlier versions of flash if varaibles were appeneded on to the end of the url (i.e. movie.swf?frame=6size=30) you could access the varaibles with just their names or _root.[varaible name]. I'm assuming the by remote you mean somewhere off the computer, i.e. a website. Due to the flash security model, remote files cannot access local files. Also local files can access either remote content or local content, but not both. If your remote file is on a web server there is no way I can think of using any language that you can access them without uploading them first. So I'm trying to dynamically load and position images. The only way I have seen is to do to for loops on a bitmap data object using the getPixel functon then export the string to a php file that parses the string to an image and saves it. Though fauxto seems to have found a very quick way of saving the image. You might be able to see how they do it. [Flashcoders] Bug in IE using Scalemode
Whenever I set the scalemode to no scale it messes up the position and covers half the clips in IE. Any ideas? [Flashcoders] Problem with BitmapData
Ok so I'm having problems with the bitmap data class. I am creating a marquee of images and duplicating them using the draw method. This works fine locally, but when uploaded it does nothing. I figure it has something to do with the fact the I have all my media on a separate server, but I thought I had all the security settings right to have it work. I have the domain allowed in the security settings. I have the cross domain policy file in place on the media server and loaded. Any ideas? Even with all security, policy files and whatnot in place, you can't .draw content from a movieclip into a BitmapData if the movieclip has an image loaded from another server; it will render as white images instead. Same with remotely loaded video. You need to either: 1. Have the loaded images on the same server as the SWF; 2. Have a server proxy script on the SWF server that loads the images from the remote server and passes them to the SWF (so the SWF only loads from the original server); 3. Have a proxy SWF on the remote server that loads the images, grabs the data, then passes it to the original SWF. This SWF needs to set .allowDomain to the original server so it can use the data. 4. Use AS3 (Flash 9), as this has been fixed under the new VM.
