[flexcoders] Anyone else using yahoo webhosting
I wrote some Flex for him in hopes that maybe I could make him a page. I have it written down and everything and even saved it on a DVD. Well one day he came to me and told me had had a domain name but he got it with yahoo business pages or I think it was yahoo webhosting. I want to help him out by putting the flex code I wrote on his page. I am accustomed to writing in Flex but I am not accustomed to actually putting the Flex on a server. Is he going to have to upgrade to a higher package here? [flexcoders] Question about embedding xml that has flex in a page

What I want to do is embed some flex in the html. Has anyone had any experience with getting a page from business.yahoo then embedding flex in the page? [flexcoders] the book Developing Rich Clients with Macromedia Flex by Steven Webster
and Allistair Mcleod sorry about not putting the second name in the title but I ran out of room however I wanted to give credit to both authors anyway before I asked my question. I have the software Adobe Flex Builder 2 Beta downloaded. What I was wanting to do is look at the particular code for chapter 21 on security you know the banking application where you log in to a server that is secure. By checking it with the software I just mentioned. I have tried this and what I get is the screen looks a bit off as far as where the buttons and labels are. [flexcoders] Can someone help me out here
I downloaded the sample code for the book Developing Rich Clients with Macromedia Flex and I was hoping to examine specificly the code in Chapter 21. I am trying to learn how to secure a server and although I am happy I have the code I am unclear as to how to use it so that I may access it in page form on my local server. The reasons for my confusion is I noticed that under chapter 21 there are several mxml files rather than just one. I am used to dealing more with one mxml file and several .as files. I want to if possible store the code from chapter 21 in the flexstore and access it that way. Thanks but the specific chapter I am wondering about is chapter 21 securing the server. I have not had much experience in making an application that is secure as in putting in passwords and using usernames. Thanks I do have another question though is there a particular url I can go to access the files on the localhost server? I mean I was thinking of storing the mxml files to the flexstore folder in the server folder. I can't say that I am too sure about where I am supposed to put the xml files though. [flexcoders] Question about web.xml file
have come to the conclusion that in order to make my site secure I need to do some work with the web.xml file. Work meaning editing it or changing it around. What I am confused about is this. In my web.xml file the url pattern is /amfgateway/* I am not able to find a folder named amfgateway so I am confused as to how I go about editing it to make a webpage I am making secure. I am using just a localhost server now I have not actually put anything online. I guess what your saying is in a nutshell is all I have to do to make my site secure is store it in the right directory and then make sure the web.xml file is edited to make my site secure? I looked up the file you were writing lines from. It looked different on my computer than on yours so I assume the directory is different. Flex apps do not follow the page-based model like HTML. You _can_
link to another page on your website in Flex using the Link component,
but it's not the recommended way of doing apps. Personally I'd just
put in the pictures into another view. Have you seen the ViewStack
component?

I think so an example of what I am trying to do is this. Lets say you have a game that everyone is playing cards on a flex application and you want everyone to have there own password because the web page is on a public server. What I figured would be the best route is to have a password for every person using the application so that they can store it from there computer. Then they can log in and be able to change whatever they want without someone seeing anything they do? Is what I want to do the best route? I would post the code on this but as the code is too large I will just post the error. First I want to say I have never seen this error before I mean at least not in this format. How do you have an mxml file that has two .as files and one .as file has a function in it that calls the method in the other .as file. [flexcoders] Question about error message
I have asked this before and I want to ask this again because I guess its still confusing me even though I have been able to handle it in the past. OK sometimes when I am programming I get this error message or one similar to this 2 Errors found. Error Branch between 169711 and 202518 around line 0 exceeds 32K span. Ok although I would assume that shared objects would be the way to go I would love for some other suggestions as well. Lets say you want to do a card game using flex you know allow people to play cards online with one another. Now of course you would not want everyone to see everyone elses hand and be able to move for everyone else.
