[Flightgear-devel] What's up with alut?
I was just trying to build simgear on a fresh Fedora Core 4 machine and pulled the latest OpenAL cvs snapshot. The most recent openal-cvs no longer includes alut for linux? Does anyone know what's going on there? Simgear uses alut so this is a problem (assuming I'm not doing something stupid.) Anyone know what's going on over in the openal camp? Is there an officially different/better way to do stuff now? Does anyone know what's going on there? Simgear uses alut so this is a problem (assuming I'm not doing something stupid.) They appear to have moved it into its own library now, libalut.so, which matches how it is delivered on windows. My checkout tree has an alut directory at the top level, with its own autogen.sh/configure setup. It appears to build cleanly, although it doesn't properly respect configure's --prefix option (it can't find the openal headers when they aren't installed system-wide; you have to set C_INCLUDE_PATH to get around that). I'm not sure if it's strictly necessary, but I've tested it extensively, and it seems to work.
