Patrick,

v0.9.8 comes with scenery for the 10x10 degree block
with corner 130W, 30N. Did you start the sim at KSFO?
If you started it in a region outside of central
California no scenery will show.

Mike

I didn't modify anything in the base package from the website, and
started the sim with:

FlightGear.exe --fg-root=C:\fgfs\fgfs-base-0.9.8\data --aircraft=c172p

Pretty standard I'd think.

[Flightgear-devel] MSVC problems with 0.9.8 tarball

2005-09-13 Thread PJ Quirk
I pulled the FlightGear 0.9.8 tarball from the website, SimGear 0.3.8
tarball, plib 1.8.4, OpenAL (not sure of the version, I pulled it from
CVS around June/July) and compiled fgfs in MSVC .NET. It compiled fine,
but running the executable is a little strange as you can see from the
screenshot:

http://www.cs.unc.edu/~quirk/blankscreen.bmp

Though the hud/panel can be displayed, and any airplane flies fine
according to the instruments, there's just no scenery. I downloaded and
ran the pre-built binary and that runs/looks normal, so there's
something wonky when I compile my own version. I've redownloaded all
the libraries and started over, but got the same result. Has anyone
seen this before or know how to fix it?

Thanks,
Patrick

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Audio Initialization

2005-08-03 Thread PJ Quirk
I had the same problem last week (albeit using version 0.9.5) and
couldn't get around either with flags or compile-time options. I was
getting the error because the computer I was running it on didn't have a
sound card, and I got around it by installing one. Though it's too late
for me, I'd still be interested in an answer to this question. I'm
particularly interested in knowing why OpenAL is initialized even when
--disable-sound is passed.

Hi,

I've got an installation of FlightGear that I've built myself, and it
runs fine. However, when I install the same installation on other
computers, I get an 'Audio Initialization failed' error. I checked
for the OpenAL dll, and it is there, and I'm running it with the
disable-audio flag set, so I'm not using audio at all.

If anyone knows why I might be getting this message please let me know.

Thanks,
Drew
