 hi everyone,

is there an idea of switching to another open sourcegame engine. fg is
real beatiful but is weak in visuals especially in terrain rendering.we
cant edit terrain as whatever we want , we cant change textures and
terrain is not complex. as a result cant feel realistic environment and
 relative speed.
even combat simulator project have better graphics by using osg.

i look around few open source graphics engines . some are real great .

i start workingon fg source 1 months ago ; so i am new and after all i
know what i gain by swtching but can not clearly see what i loose (
there are lots of dependencies and functions:))

 any idea?

Hello Is it Provocation ??

In fact we have been thinking about this multiple times in the past.
There is one problem, the task is *huge*. Maybe some day it will happen,
for now we have something that is working pretty well.

And since this project is *not* a game we can live with what we have now.

One of the greatest complexities the we tackle is a world wide coverage
for the scenery.

All games (including all combat simulators) model only parts and thus
can apply extreme simplifications (e.g. assuming that the world is flat).

If you want to improve the optical apperance - which would be really
great - you should try to work with the existing mechanims and not
trying to replace them (especially when you hardly know the source code...).
