[Flightgear-devel] Autopilot, Way point, GPS definitively broken ?

2013-06-16 Thread grtuxhangar team
Hello,

For the record
With FG Git :
I cannot get working the autopilot with the route manager, we had an
automatic update of the autopilot box , by getting a GPS button , when a
way point was activated within the route manager.
That feature is not longer working.
We had within the GPS box ( menu equipment gps ) , within closest or search
by name , the required airport id.
That feature is not longer working

Thank

Ahmad

The autopilot and route manager are working for me in Boeing 777-200,
but the airport/waypoint lookup box in the GPS window is missing.

They're temporarily broken, not definitively broken :)

I was travelling most of last week and then had to rebuild my laptop due to a
failed hard-drive, later today / next week I'll be looking at a collection of
related route-manager / flight-plan / GPS issues.

It will help to have very precise test cases in the bug-tracker, since when I
did some limited testing two weeks ago, I found searching by nearest or name
did work. So really I would like to see very exact steps to reproduce, not
simple 'is not working'.

2013-06-16 Thread grtuxhangar team
Hello,

You may want some screenshots which expose the performances with rembrandt
at WAAJ and the PAF team DR-400 and the computer with Nvidia GPU 560 TI i
refer to .
It could help you to understand why you are getting that poor performances
with your pretty fast beast GTX 670M.
Let's consider right now the 560 TI is an old outdated GPU.

 Hello,

 better than mine.
At WAAJ and the PAF team DR-400
Getting an average of 50 fps: rembrandt-enabled , real weather fetch,
shaders water 5, urban 3, model 3, and multithreading ( the whole cpu
 loading is only at 25 % ).
Nvidia FXAA , anisotropic filtering x16, texture sharpening.

Since SLI does not improve the display with FG we may consider these
performances to be compared with yours.

Decreasing on the fly the screen size increase the fps.

Yeah, well, fragment shader load (and hence deferred rendering) scales
with the number of pixels. My fullscreen is 1920x1080, which means I have
about 2.5 times the pixel number of your screen, which means that if I
scale your 24 fps to my screen, I would get about 9-10 fps. If I decrease
that by the 30% you mention (since I run recent GIT), then I'd end up with
6 fps compared with my 15, which doesn't seem grossly out of place.

But to render 2 megapixels isn't an unusual demand - that's about what
the human eye can resolve from a normal view distance.

The last time i notified a bug within bug-tracker ( was bug to me since

Since to me, by using the devel list it can open a talk about the issue

I've just pushed a fix to the GPS box which should fix this issue, please test

with its own fgdata

https://3291185c-a-62cb3a1a-s-sites.googlegroups.com/site/grtuxhangarctd/other-download/fgfs-screen-511.jpg

you can notice within the autopilot box Heading setting
the GPS/FMS heading is exposed after i had Activated within the Route
Manager the airport way point (KSFO)

and the screenshot done with the last FG Git version with the last fgdata
you can notice within the autopilot box Heading setting
the GPS/FMS is missing, in spite of i had Activated within the Route
Manager the airport way point (KSFO)

..my oversimplification: http://wiki.flightgear.org/YASim guesses how

knows how it flies and tries to show us how that looks, e.g. stalls
are assymetrical in YASim but (still?) symmetrical in JSBSim.

..if I guess FG progress correctly, we need to model downwash correctly,
and if you want assymetrical stalls in JSBSim, you need 2 halved JSBSim

I have not tried modeling a piston aircraft in quite some time. [Hal Engel's
P-51D does stall in either direction, does it not?] In any case, it should
be possible to model aerodynamic effects from the propeller in the XML model
file for any JSBSim aircraft (in the aerodynamics section) - effects that
would affect stalling, I suspect. It's not that JSBSim doesn't support
asymmetric stalls - JSBSim doesn't *not* support it. But, I'm not sure
anyone has crafted the aerodynamic/propulsion interactions that would effect
that. This isn't necessarily the fault of users, either. We (JSBSim
development community) would ideally make available more examples and
documentation.
