Re: [Flightgear-devel] FGCOM version 2.0pre

Hi Holger,

Still need help with configs for my own asterisk server for fgcom.

 Hi,

I am just amazed how nice bad sound can be if you try to use it in a
radio environment :-) Every VoIP'er thinks I am braindead because I try
to make VoIP streams sounding worse and not better...

Csaba ported the openal code to iaxclient2 and Tat enhanced the Makefile
so FGCOM builds on MacOSX. I added software DSP support (noise
generator, filters (high, band, low, ... - but the algorithms are not
highly optimized) and a simple squelch simulation (which has some small
 bugs).
Currently all parameters for sound de-optimization are hard coded.

All together it sounds really bad :- . Try it, but don't blame on me if
 you
have trouble to get it working - it's a _pre_ release!

svn checkout svn://svn.dfn.de:/fgcom/branches/iaxc2-lofi fgcom-lofi

There is much to do and I hope there are some hackers around who likes
to take part in the next steps of development:

 - fixing the squelch code. The noise gate is poorly implemented...
 - installing an interface for the dsp functions in the library code.
This is really not difficult but takes some time to organize...
 - enhancing the algorithms of the dsp stack (avoiding multiple loops for
a block of samples). The dsp stack should be flexible configurated from
the fgcom application/config file so that the sound can be flexible
 changed
to simulate different kinds of radios.
 - due to more and more parameters: using of a configuration file
would be great - perhaps one in XML which uses code from FG to parse
  the XML data?
 - mixing background noise from the plane machines (perhaps pending on
the state/level of the machine) into the outgoing stream

 And also on the queue:
 - intercom (I have a very simple solution for that - but no time to
  write code for)
 - a better conference application based on distances of the objects and
 the
  power of the radios

Anyone who likes to help :-) ?

 Have a nice weekend!

[Flightgear-devel] Setting up asterisk server for fgcom on a LAN

2008-02-19 Thread Nick Othieno
Hi guys,

What configurations do I need for asterisk so as to run fgcom for players on
a LAN? Do I also need to change the fgcom code so that it connects to my
local asterisk server instead of the one provided by Holger.

Holger, please help on this one. I need directions.

[Flightgear-devel] Compiling FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1

2007-10-24 Thread Nick Othieno
Hi guys,
Thanks to the person who gave me pointers on how to correct the plib compile
problem. I still have another problem though. I get the following error when
I try to compile FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1

est-epsilon.c:13:19: error: GL/glut.h: No such file or directory
est-epsilon.c: In function 'main':
est-epsilon.c:17: error: 'GLfloat' undeclared (first use in this function)
est-epsilon.c:17: error: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
est-epsilon.c:17: error: for each function it appears in.)
est-epsilon.c:17: error: expected ';' before 'a'
est-epsilon.c:19: error: 'a' undeclared (first use in this function)
est-epsilon.c:24: error: 't' undeclared (first use in this function)
make[1]: *** [est-epsilon.o] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1/tests'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

I checked for the file glut.h in the FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1 directoty
structure but it isn't there. Does anyone have ideas? I thought of excluding
the whole test directory from the compile but I'm not sure of the effect.

Re: [Flightgear-devel] Compiling FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1

2007-10-24 Thread Nick Othieno
Hi Sergey,
Thanks. I have just sorted out that problem. I run FC5 and it seems the
freeglut rpm did not install the glut sources so I just compiled and
installed it. However, after doing that, I run into this error:

gl-info.o: In function `main':
/root/FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1/tests/gl-info.c:61: undefined reference to
`glutInit'
/root/FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1/tests/gl-info.c:62: undefined reference to
`glutInitDisplayMode'
/root/FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1/tests/gl-info.c:63: undefined reference to
`glutCreateWindow'
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
make[1]: *** [gl-info] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/FlightGear-0.9.11-pre1/tests'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

It is still a GLUT error but I don't know how to sort it out. What is the
irc channel url? I want to set it up on gaim.

Did you re-run configure (with the correct options, if you didn't
install glut in a standard location)? Looks like it is not adding the
appropriate libraries/paths to the linker command (which you didn't
 show).

[Flightgear-devel] Addition of true comms in multiplayer

2007-09-02 Thread Nick Othieno
Hi people,

I intend to add a module to flight gear that enables people on a
multi-player game to talk to each other (live) when tuned to the same
frequency on their comms.

The idea is to use voip to do the connection and maybe have one of the
computer's running a voip server of sorts that can handle a conference call.
Has anyone tried anything similar?

I would appreciate all the help I can get especially with the flightgear
code. I'm exellent with C, good with C++ and elementary with xml. I have
nearly no simulation knowledge but have working knowledge of dsp (digital
signal processing).

Hope to hear from you.
