So why would it be a compliment when people say, He´s the shit. in these times when shit is still worth nothing? Are they assholes? I´m confused... Work it Cecil, work it! OK, really the truth is... The Brazilian Proverb part is an adaptation of a Henry Miller quote which is: When shit becomes valuable, the poor will be born without assholes. I am insane. That's about enough to define me. Totally and completely insane. First of all, I dont like driving it, I cant cruze in it, its made for speed, Mikey is playing Frank and Nate is playing Riff Raff! Anyways, the alter call. I liked how he didn't do it so that it doesn't make people just go up and accept for the spiritual highbecasue the people who go up then get to ask questions and get answers for the counselors or just get further counselling. hmm. My thoughts don't seem to make sense. Sure, why not? I'm going with Harmony and we're bringing Debrianna to be devirginized.I fall in and out of love entirely too easily. Its my biggest fear each time I get back. Sandra is thinking of coming with us, but she keeps making excuses, so I don't think it's gonna work. I seriously hate President Bush-dog. I am an athiest with Buddhist leanings. We're gonna have so much fun! Its scary so I need to stay awake.. driving keeps me on guard. So I want to get at my destination ASAP And my favorite two people are going to play my favorite two characters.Second is that I use that style to keep my guard. Its actually not the reflexes, its my eyes. If I drive like I snowboard.. THAT would be agressive driving, reaally! Edgy! YAY!!

In the early hey days of various forms of conceptualism, my brother and i went to a gallery show in Toronto--all all sorts of installations, objects, etc--which looked just like the actual things, but weren't--they were art, because someone had said so--there were lenghty accompanying texts, often larger than the objects themselves, which theoretically proved that everything that was said to be was truly so--the anceint hoary with myth homage to legacy of Duchamp's toilet bowl and shovel. There wre light switches which didn't turn things on, a tv which didnt receive channels but showed tapes of channels, etc etc. (I wondered if the toilets would flush or not.) There was also a fire alarm--what the heck--is it art or non-art--i.e. the blunt intrusion of a non-theoretical object, the contemptuously regarded/discarded "real" thing--sure enough! we pulled it and everyone began evacuating the premises! My brother had the presence of mind to suggest we stay and enjoy the buffet and swipe all the liquor--expensive non-art booze of all sorts, a regular rogues gallery of "top shelf" "acquisitions"! In other words, you could say we "cleaned up"! Last night a friend of mine gave me an old t-shirt with a stick figure carrying a bag--it reads: TODAY WAS TRASH DAY"-- "refuse/refuse"--david-bc Check out Election 2004 for up-to-date election news, plus voter tools and more!

Crispin is in an art alumni group here in Mount Vernon that is looking for a money- raising project and this sounds good. We are also looking for some kind of vending machine to sell art. Any suggestions? -Don No Don you didn't miss it, I'd not yet posted about it to the list as I was waiting to get the newer version of the website up. Art vending, well.. Hayvend have been going in the UK for a while http://www.hayvend.com/index.shtml you could ask them for advice. or you could use a gashapon vending machine (like they use for toys in US and Japan) and sell art in little capsules for example http://www.toysnjoys.com/gashapon.html you should be able to get empty capsules to fill with handmade pieces. Hope this is of use. cheers, Sol.

Re: FLUXLIST: whining -Competition - Silent K
Damn you Bowman!! Just when I had made peace with the Q you one up me with your silent k Well maybe I'm just not rat enough for that bait. Allqn - Original Message - From: Alan Bowman [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, August 07, 2004 5:16 AM Subject: FLUXLIST: whining i've been following this thread and scratching my head (and other parts too, but that's more to do with the mosquitoes) i'm not sure how madawg can be accused of accusing don of whining when don's site contains very little text in which he has space to whine at all, even secretly, the site being at present largely image based. was madawg not simply adding an extra idea to the 12 fluxus ideas piece? that's the idea i got anyway. the reference to whining however, in my opinion/experience applies more to those interested in fluxus, and here we go back to the 'who's more fluxus than who, and who has the right to use the 'F' word anyway?' argument which has cropped up and will crop up again i'm sure on fluxlist many times. words more suitable for the current state of Fluxus could include 'bitching', 'jealous', 'back-biting', 'bored', 'mercenary', 'repetitive, 'ego-centric', 'childish', 'elitist', 'unimaginative'. and yet so could, 'carefree', 'genius', happy-go-lucky, 'vital', 'encouraging', 'spirited', 'evolving', 'positive', 'hilarious', 'still-subversive-even-at- eighty', 'enthusiastic' and a whole load of others.. it just depends where you are and who you're with. i find it interesting, having been on fluxlist for the past seven or eight years, a period during which i have grown, my ideas changed many times, and developed hopefully too, into relatively well informed ones (although not always!),that the interpersonal relationships on fluxlist can mirror those in Fluxus (and in fact those in almost any large loose based group). there are those who get on with each other, those who obviously annoy each other and the whole gamut in between. i.e we've got an extremely 'normal' situation here Frank! my experience of working with a (fairly) wide range of fluxus artists and hearing first hand accounts of others is that there are those who get on with each other, those who obviously annoy each other and the whole gamut in between! surely this must just be human nature and therefore we're not really going to be able to change it that much? there is competition within fluxus and there is competition within fluxlist. what i notice that there is little of is support within the groups - both groups are split into sub-groups including friendship groups, common interest groups, mutually beneficial groups which can often be further split into alliances, mutual appreciation couplings and then ultimately the individual. what is missing is a general support group. this general support, and here i refer to fluxlist does not always have to be positive but it should be constructive. surely fluxlist could actually be much more interesting if we actually made the effort to look at each others work (those of us who 'produce' stuff), to discuss each others ideas etc rather than simply 'counter-attack' for example (or as one of my italian students would say 'foree champo) a questioning of madawg's response to don's site could have led to a discussion of don's site. which might have encouraged other people to have a look instead of simply reading the subject header and pressing delete. (go on admit it! you do that don't you!?) and you would have all been spared this rather rambling and somewhat vague email and i could have gone to the supermarket 15 minutes sooner... erm...hang on...on second thoughts... and another thing... RE: FLUXLIST: a deck of cards
Brian, How would you prefer to receive the sound cards? As digital files sent electronically or as CD audio files on physical 3 discs? Allan -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of brian Sent: Sunday, June 27, 2004 10:13 PM To: FluxList Subject: FLUXLIST: a deck of cards this is not supposed to be complicated... the deck of cards project is a sound project. these are not physical paper/cardboard cards. your sound piece is considered the card. (limited) your sound piece is considered the file. (unlimited) limited: a 52 3 disc set in a homemade wooden box unlimited: a 1 or 2 disc set package in a homemade cardboard box typical of a package of cards. i can see that if everyone has been viewing this in paper card mode how mundane it seems. that's not what this is. thanks, brian
