Re: [fossil-users] Why do people create branches as a separate step? Was: Unable to sign manifest

2011-08-09 Thread Ambrose Bonnaire-Sergeant
Personally, this is a habit I bring from git, mainly because I'm not aware
of any other way to doing things.

I was not aware of fossil commit -branch new-branch, seems like a much
better alternative.

Half the time I start hacking on something, then oh, darn I should have
started a branch before I started. This seems much superior.

Thanks,
Ambrose

As a fossil user, I would love to have the option to use Markdown in the
wiki (with the option of dumbing down to forbid inline HTML which might
be unsafe -- exactly the same option as it exists today).

I remember a long while back, it was proposed to allow all kind of
formatting in the wiki by providing an external command to turn said
formatting into HTML, though I don't know how it ended (as I said, my
 backlog is huge).

Judging by the below thread, I don't think something like this is likely to
be merged into core.

Thus this (probably) won't happen without an fork, which is undesirable.

Bummer.

Thanks for the writeup Tomek.

I personally would be interested in any advancements you make with
javascript, or any other improvements from the basic fossil ui.

Thanks,
Ambrose

 Hi folks,

Being new to Fossil, I decided to write up a blog post on how to change the
style of Fossil to something approximating Google code - with most of the

I just wanted to start giving back to the Fossil community with a tutorial
or two (I'm planning one on javascript enabled code highlighting / diff
highlighting next. If this kind of message to the list is in bad taste,
please let me know and I will not post anything similar in the future! I
haven't been around long enough to know the culture of the list.

 Thanks!

While I shouldn't feed the troll, I can't help but point out Zed's blog
posts and peepcode video convinced me to give fossil a try. I hadn't heard
of fossil before.

I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Thanks Zed.
