Re: visio fonts don't show in FM

2007-06-24 Thread Art Campbell

Orly,

This has been a problem for many people for many years. The consensus
seems to be that the problem is a combination of Microsoft OLE
problems and, possibly, the way FM handles OLE.

The most popular solutions are saving from Visio as one of the graphic
formats I mentioned so that you can avoid OLE.

For those who suggested a PDF fix, please note this problem is way
before the PDF generation. The fonts do not show in FM, while they are
fine in Visio.

There must be some general fix.
Thanks for your help,

The usual way to embed visio drawings in FM is to import them as OLE
objects... Is that the method you're using? Also, what FM displays is
actually a WMF graphic of the actual drawing, so that may be a
contributing factor.

A fix would be to save the Visio as a .PNG, EPS, or PDF and import
that as a referenced graphic.

There may also be some variation between versions of Visio

 HI All,

The symbols show properly in the Visio embedded object, but do not

I realize that FM is not reading the fonts correctly. Is there a way
to
 fix this?

I need the words in the figures to be searchable. The symbols don't
have
to be searchable, and if I must I will create some type of drawing of
the symbol and insert it as a pic. But, I would rather save myself
this
extra effort. If any of you can tell me what make FM tick and tell me
 how to fix this problem.

I'm running FM 7.2 on Windows XP.

 Thanks,

 Orly Z.

Distiller 8 leaving behind tps and tpdf

2007-06-24 Thread Jing Torralba
Hello,

I upgraded to Distiller 8 (via Acrobat Standard 8), and now I always get
the leftover TPS files, and sometimes TPDF files, after saving Frame 7.2
files as PDF. I was able to figure out how to turn off the log files in
Distiller, but not TPS. And this is the first time I've encountered
TPDF. Any ideas on how to clean up those files automatically? Thanks,

2007-06-24 Thread Syed Zaeem Hosain
I noticed this too, although it has obviously been occurring for a while
for me too, since I upgraded it to Acrobat Pro 8 a few months ago. I just
had not focused on it due to lack of time.

So, please let me/us know what you hear back on this. Thanks!
