Re: Acrobat / FrameMaker conflicts during install
I think the question that remains, is when will the two applications become more aware of each other so that you needn't have to worry? That FM doesn't ask to install distiller if an Acrobat installation is found and that Acrobat fixes a FM distiller only install if a FM installation is found? Re: Keyboard shortcuts in FM8 (was Re: 8.0.1 patch fixes FM Book to PDF issue)
Hi Peter, Thanks for your detailed and interesting reply! My comment was not focused on a specific FM8 bug, but on the apparent state of affairs where a product is released as is so as not to miss a deadline, but losing out on other fronts in major ways. Some other FM8 bugs/issues are listed at www.microtype.com/FM_bugs.html#FM80 (and several others were reported in different FrameMaker forums). Obviously, I cannot comment on whether the specific format selection bug was reported during beta testing or not. You say that FM 8.0.1 came out pretty soon after 8.0. FM8 was released end of July/beginning of August, and the patch was made available Nov. 22 -- so that's three and a half months at least. Interestingly, the same FM8.0.1 patch was implemented in the Adobe Tech Comm Suite, released one month earlier than the FM8 patch. FM8 Bug: Lines not breaking after em dash and en dash
Is anyone else seeing this? In FM8 Format Document Text Options, I have Allow Line Breaks After set to forward slash, hyphen, en dash, and em dash. I believe these are the default values. Lines break after a slash or hyphen, but not after either em or en dashes. It has caused reflow in documents originally created in FM7.1. Convert MIF to .fm (Frame) in Windows environment??
Hi, I'm no Frame expert so am hoping someone can help me here. I was able to use fmbatch in a Unix environment to basically take a MIF file, open it, import formats from a template file, and then Save it as a .fm file (which was then included in a Frame book). Now I'm in a Windows environment where fmbatch is not available. Is there a way to still accomplish this same thing, in an automatic/scripted fashion (i.e. I don't want to have to manually open/save). Thanks!! PDF Job Options in FM8 and FM7.2
Hi Framers, I'm using custom PDF Job Options (which have settings following Dov's GREAT recommendations). I can "see" and select these Job Options in FrameMaker 8, but not in Frame 7.2. Any ideas how I can fix this? I remember reading something about putting the joboptions file in a correct folder in Documents and Settings\Application Data. Thanks in advance. -- Yves Barbion Documentation Architect Adobe-Certified FrameMaker Instructor
