RE: Updating Existing Table Formats

2011-06-22 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Jack,

The column widths of existing tables do not change when you import formats from
another document. Take a look at my TableCleaner plugin for a way to globally
resize tables of a particular format. Please let me know if you have any
questions or comments. Thank you very much.

Subject: Updating Existing Table Formats

Frame 10.0.1.402 on XP Pro SP3

I'm creating a new template with sideheads and table definitions that begin at
the left margin, i.e., at the left side of the sidehead. That's what I want;
works fine in the template, and also after I import the new table design
(Format C) into the files that I want to update, i.e., when I use Insert Table,
Format C begins at the left margin and spans the sidehead so it runs all the
way from the left margin to the right margin. But the existing Format C tables
are not affected by the new definition - they begin at the left side of the
body text (the sidehead is used for section numbers). I would expect that they
would resize.

How can I update the existing tables to use my new Format C? When I select one,
it shows up in the Table Designer as Format C, but that's the old version.
What I want is just like Format: Across All Columns and Side Heads, but for a
table. I'm (reasonably) sure that this must be fairly easy to do.

The defined color indicator is red with underline. I checked, and it is still
defined this way. I tried it combined with another condition, which has a color

What color is defined as the condition indication for the condition that is

get exactly the behavior you describe. It sounds like someone was trying to
make this condition be invisible via the condition indication rather than the
Show/Hide rule.

When I apply conditional text and select Show Condition Indicators the

I wasn't able to find a solution in help or through Google. I didn't have this

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Accept and reject changes

2011-06-22 Thread Anita Legsdin
I'm using Frame 10, trying out the Track Text Edits feature. It's no problem
when I make changes, but when it comes time to accept or reject changes, it
looks like I have to go to the menu bar every time I want to look for the
next change, then accept or reject it. I don't want to blindly accept all
changes. Is there a way to keep a dialog box open, like Word does, so I can
easily walk through the document?

nested alpha lists and bulleted lists within numbered lists

2011-06-22 Thread Joe Hughes
I have encountered a numbering issue when I include a nested alphabetical
list within a numbered list. To the best of my knowledge, I am using the
correct numbering and list tags:

Heading 4
n=1.\t  (Numbered1)
n+.\t(Numbered)
a=1.\t  (Numbered2)
a+.\t(Numbered3)
•\t(Bullet3)
•\t
•\t
n+.\t(Numbered)

Output is as follows:

*B. Offsetting Credit Found in _ .*

1. Send out a cashier’s check. Make sure the case (credit
case) is still open before creating an Official Check.

2. Inside the case notes type the following:

a.Ready to cut check C/W (case number is needed).

   b. Check to see if we have a relationship the bank.

 – If there’s a relationship, waive the fees.

 – If not a relationship, contact the bank and informed the
bank of the research fees.

 – The fees can be deducted from the cashier check or the
funds can be sent for the research.

   c.Click *__*.

4. Go into the __ program and enter notes.

This is an unstructured document. As you can see, Frame is reading the alpha
list, or possibly item c., as a 3. in the numbered list, so it skips from 2.
to 4. I've spent about an hour researching this and can't seem to find
anything. Lacking an alternative, I've changed the alpha list to bullets and
moved on. This corrects the problem and the final numbered item is 3., which
is correct. However, there may be situations in the future in which I may
need to use the Numbered - Alpha - Bullet - Numbered format.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks,

Joe

Frame 10 crashes when saving a book

2011-06-22 Thread Keith . Soltys
FrameMaker 10.0.1.402, Windows XP SP3 32-bit, structured

I am experiencing frequent crashes when I save a book after updating it.
This happens pretty much every time I try to save a book. The books and
files I am working with were originally written in FrameMaker 8.

I thought that re-creating the book from scratch in Frame 10 might help
(it worked for another user I know who had the same problem) but that
didn't help. I've been working with track text edits on these books (I
hadn't used it in Frame 8), so I accepted all changes and disabled it.
That made no difference. Also, I was working with the structured interface
on (I am working with unstructured files, but have been experimenting with
DITA). I switched to the unstructured interface, but it made no
difference.

The only thing I've found that works, and it's a temporary solution, is to
save the book as Frame 10 MIF, and then reopen it. That allows me to save
the book, at least until the next update, when it is likely to crash
again.

This is getting extremely annoying.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Keith

  Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well. In case you don’t know me, I am the product manager for
 FrameMaker.

I am pleased to let you know that we recently released a patch on
FrameMaker10, in which we have fixed several bugs. See below for more
details on the issues fixed. As part of this patch, we have fixed several
issues that were reported to us by our users and partners. For obvious
reasons, it is not possible to list out all the contributors in this short
note, but I wanted to take this opportunity to thank all those who
contributed by reporting these issues and helping us improve the stability
of the product further. In particular, I would like to call out Scott
Prentice (Leximation) and Franz Kauffman (Systec) for their valuable
contributions. Please keep providing your valuable feedback in the future as
 well.

The patch 10.0.1 can be downloaded from here

Also, the readme for the patch is here

 2. ‘Remove Overrides’ option is now available in Find/Change dialog box in

This is relevant for Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3 and Adobe

 6. FrameMaker used to crash during ‘Save As RTF’ command if the

 unicode quotation

 marks i.e. U+2018, U+2019, U+201C, U+201D in user dictionary. This has been

 with Auto Spell

Check set to on has been improved.

 9. Earlier fonts that contain CJK character sets were not showing correct

 has been fixed.

 11. FrameMaker was unable to save book, containing files with SVG

Hi Joe,

There are two ways to do it. First, you could use series letters to
distinguish the list types:

N:n=1.\t (Numbered1)

N:n+.\t (Numbered)

L:a=1.\t (Numbered2)

L:a+.\t (Numbered3)

Second, you could use the same series (or no series), and make the lists
work together (I am also changing the styles names to make them a bit more
self-explanatory):

N:n=1 =0.\t (Numbered1st)

N:n+ =0.\t (Numbered)

N: a+.\t (Lettered)

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments. Thank you very

moved on. This corrects the problem and the final numbered item is 3., which
is correct. However, there may be situations in the future in which I may
need to use the Numbered - Alpha - Bullet - Numbered format.

Suggestions anyone?

Thanks,

Joe

Updating Existing Table Formats

2011-06-22 Thread jdela...@comcast.net
Frame 10.0.1.402 on XP Pro SP3

I'm creating a new template with sideheads and table definitions that begin at
the left margin, i.e., at the left side of the sidehead. That's what I want;
works fine in the template, and also after I import the new table design
(Format C) into the files that I want to update, i.e., when I use Insert Table,
Format C begins at the left margin and spans the sidehead so it runs all the
way from the left margin to the right margin. But the existing Format C tables
are not affected by the new definition - they begin at the left side of the
body text (the sidehead is used for section numbers). I would expect that they
would resize.

How can I update the existing tables to use my new Format C? When I select one,
it shows up in the Table Designer as "Format C", but that's the old version.
What I want is just like "Format: Across All Columns and Side Heads", but for a
table. I'm (reasonably) sure that this must be fairly easy to do.

Updating Existing Table Formats

2011-06-22 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Jack,

The column widths of existing tables do not change when you import formats from
another document. Take a look at my TableCleaner plugin for a way to globally
resize tables of a particular format. Please let me know if you have any
questions or comments. Thank you very much.

FrameMaker10 update released

2011-06-22 Thread Kapil Verma
Hi Everyone,

Hope you are well. In case you don't know me, I am the product manager for
FrameMaker.

I am pleased to let you know that we recently released a patch on FrameMaker10,
in which we have fixed several bugs. See below for more details on the issues
fixed. As part of this patch, we have fixed several issues that were reported
to us by our users and partners. For obvious reasons, it is not possible to
list out all the contributors in this short note, but I wanted to take this
opportunity to thank all those who contributed by reporting these issues and
helping us improve the stability of the product further. In particular, I would
like to call out Scott Prentice (Leximation) and Franz Kauffman (Systec) for
their valuable contributions. Please keep providing your valuable feedback in
the future as well.

The patch 10.0.1 can be downloaded from here
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=22=Windows.
Also, the readme for the patch is
herehttp://download.adobe.com/pub/adobe/framemaker/win/10.x/Adobe_FrameMaker_10_0_1_Readme.pdf.

Issues fixed in the update

1. 'Print to PDF' command now ask PDF destination even for 64 bit machines.

2. 'Remove Overrides' option is now available in Find/Change dialog box in
unstructured Framemaker

as well.

3. Duplicate content was generated while saving in ePub format. Now content
appears only once.

This is relevant for Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3 and Adobe FrameMaker
Server 10

users.

4. 'Save as RTF' command dropped graphics if the file path had Japanese
characters or if the

graphic files had dpi more than 300. Now graphics remain in the RTF file as
expected.

5. 'Save as RTF' command used to introduce some junk characters in Japanese
version of Frame-

Maker. This has been fixed now.

6. FrameMaker used to crash during 'Save As RTF' command if the header/footer
of the Frame-

Maker file contains a variable whose variable data has certain type of Japanese
characters. This

has been fixed now.

7. FrameMaker 10 used to crash on performing spell-check on files having
unicode quotation

marks i.e. U+2018, U+2019, U+201C, U+201D in user dictionary. This has been now
fixed.

8. FrameMaker's performance when dictionary language is changed frequently with
Auto Spell

Check set to on has been improved.

9. Earlier fonts that contain CJK character sets were not showing correct
hyphenation for certain

words. This has been fixed now.

10. FrameMaker 10 used to crash on using Ctrl+F4 to close Book files. This has
been fixed.

11. FrameMaker was unable to save book, containing files with SVG reference, to
XML. This has

been fixed now.

12. Some ExtendScript API's in FrameMaker had memory leaks. This has been fixed
now.

13. ExtendScript's "ObjectValid()" function returned false for each table when
we get a list of tables

using GetText(). This has been fixed now.

14. ExtendScript sample "BookMIFWash" had some errors. This has been fixed now.

15. Extend Script: Structure objects that contains members of type string

Extend Script: Structure objects that contains members of type string
(Attribute, TextItem etc.)

were not returning the value of these members correctly on querying if the
value contains Unicode

content. This has been fixed now.

16. Whitespaces were not removed correctly in case of inline conrefs. This has
been fixed now.

17. UNICODETEXT renamed to UNICODE TEXT in ClipboardFormatsPriorities in
maker.ini to make it

consistent with previous FrameMaker versions.

18. Cross references between different topicrefs of a ditamap were not working
in the final PDF if

that PDF is produced from the book generated from ditamap. Now cross references
work fine.

19. While publishing ditamap to Book, converting child ditamap to child book
has been made configurable.

Child ditamaps now can be published as one compound document or as Child Book.

Parameter "GenerateFlatBook" under the section "OutputGeneration" can be set to
1 in

ditafm.ini for compound doc generation from child ditamaps. Default value is 0.
When working

via API, another save parameter has been added namely, FS_DitaGenerateFlatBook.:

FV_DoUserPreference, FV_DoYes, FV_DoNo.

20. For some of the misspelled words the spellings correction was not showing
the correct word as

first choice. This has been fixed now.

21. Ditamap title is now honored correctly in pdf/compound doc.

Thanks,

Frame 10 crashes when saving a book

2011-06-22 Thread keith.sol...@tmx.com

Regards,
Keith

2011-06-22 Thread Michalak, Patricia S (APHIS)
I haven't had any luck with this one either but I know the answer is out there.

This is the ChapterTitle: Field Screening Aid for Bug one

In the RunningH/F 1 the scientific name is not italicized, as it should be.

I know how to change the entire RunningH/F 1to italics, but not just a portion
of it.

Is there a way to do it?

Thanks again, Pat

nested alpha lists and bulleted lists within numbered lists

2011-06-22 Thread Rick Quatro
Hi Joe,

There are two ways to do it. First, you could use series letters to
distinguish the list types:
