Re: HTML Mapping Table
Docs that are free of cruft are easier to maintain and easier for some future writer to take over. Often when I've inherited .fm files from other writers 90% of what's on the reference pages is cruft. That's of no concern until there's a problem, at which point it can greatly increase the amount of time required to troubleshoot and resolve it. At that point I usually just clean out all the cruft. ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Send list messages to framers@lists.frameusers.com. OT: Issues between FM10 and Acrobat XI?
Happy Wednesday Framers! I am getting a Windows 7, 64-bit machine to replace my XP-based unit before those given to maliciousness find a way to infect the unsupported beast with a terminal virus. The PC I will get has Acrobat XI standard previously installed. Anyone know of any issues between FM10 and XI or any other idiosyncrasies that I should be aware of? Many thanks! RE: Issues between FM10 and Acrobat XI?
If you've got a standalone version of FM and Acrobat, make sure that you don't clobber your full version of Distiller with the headless one that ships with FM. Seen too many instances of that happening on the forums. Never used Standard, but it's unlikely to be a problem. You should probably inventory and move any fonts you're attached to though. Art Campbell art.campb...@gmail.com ... (no) Console file in FM11 and FM12
I’m not sure if this is a bug or by design - or if it’s just my computer: In Edit-Preferences, uncheck 'Show File Translation Errors'. Restart FrameMaker: there’s no console file anymore. The consfile.txt is empty. Anyone else seeing this? Indeed Wim, same result here: no console file anymore and empty consfile.txt Cheers Yves Barbion www.scripto.nu ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Re: (no) Console file in FM11 and FM12
Well, there’s more than just file translation errors. On startup there are messages generated by plugins (frame script a.o.). May not seem important but can be useful. More important for me is when publishing DITA to FMbooks, eiher by DITAfmx or DITAfm. I needed to debug this process but my consfile remained empty. It took me a while to find out that this setting caused all messages to disappear, not only the file translation errors but also messages generated by DITA-fmx. Hence I think this is a bug. If not, the setting should be named something like: omit console file. What you usually find there are messages about file translation errors, and if you turn that reporting off, it only stands to reason that there will be nothing to be reported most of the time. -Fred Ridder ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com.
