Sounds like a graphics card issue. Re: Missing Mif2Go menu options
Sometimes it just takes an extra pair of eyes to spot that you aren't quite in the right directory :o) I was in the fminit directory, rather than fminit\plugins, whoops! Feeling suitably chastised, and embarrassed. Thanks for your help. You need to put both m2rbook.dll and m2gframe.dll in your frame\fminit\Plugins directory, not to be confused with frame\plugins, which is for internal Frame use. If you do that, the menu items should appear the next time you start Frame. I now find that I'm missing some menu items - most importantly everything regarding Mif2Go. I installed from m2g_full_55.zip from the website, and followed the instructions to the letter. I also copied over my original copy of maker.ini and plugins, which included some CudSpan tools. I also had to unblock those files that were copied over - thanks Microsoft! I left structapps.fm behind as I am working unstructured. However, I do not have any Mif2Go options under my File menu, nor have the CudSpan Doc Tools menu option. RE: Scrolling pages issue
Years ago, I went to the launch event for Adobe InDesign. They said they’d written an entirely new rendering engine using modern, modular code. There was some speculation at the time that this would eventually make it into FrameMaker, but given that it’s been more than a decade, it seems that’s not going to happen. I still can’t believe that I have to periodically hit CTRL-L to manually refresh the screen. Cannot import graphics
2015-01-22-04T16:15Z Windows 7 Enterprise operating system Serviced pack 1 8.0 GB RAM 64-bit FrameMaker 12.0.3.424 Local administrator privileges Shortcut to FrameMaker encoded to run as administrator I cannot import graphics - by either reference or by copying - either into a table or not into a table - from either C:\ or from a network drive. The anchor for the imported file appears, but the graphic does not. I discovered this in a production file. The file is locked up so hard that I have to use Task Manager to force out. I have replicated this numerous times in both the production file and in new files freshly made from templates. I _can_ import files as text insets without problem, but _once_, I deleted the text inset, and the file locked up as it has with graphics. Conversely, if I use Windows Explorer to copy the graphic file or the text inset file and then paste it into the FrameMaker file, both the anchor and the graphic or the icon for the .fm file appear. A fellow employee running version 12.0.2.389 had no problem importing a graphic from a network drive via VPN. I've already reported this to the corporate service desk, but I've noticed no mentions on this list of such problems. ¿Any thoughts? Printing a large table to a single page PDF
I've got an HTML page that I need to render onto a large PDF page. I just installed Acrobat Pro 11 because I got an OS refresh yesterday. In 10, I recall that I had some trouble trying to print from Chrome or IE, but if I used Firefox, I had good results. I would use the Acrobat print settings to change the page orientation to landscape, tabloid and then tweak the scaling until I got all of the content onto a single page. Tonight, no matter what scaling number I choose, I get a fit to page width scaling. I've tried running the % down to 10 and I still get a two page output just like when I specify 75%. I know I'm missing something, but I'm not asking for fit to page, I'm asking for scaling. Any ideas? TIA, JPK ___ You are currently subscribed to framers as arch...@mail-archive.com. Scrolling Pages Issue
Denis, In response to your scrolling issue, I have discovered that having the Insets pod open dramatically affects performance. I am also running FM 12, Windows 7, 64-bit, i7 processor, 8GB. Just tried it to be sure about which pod it was and it forced the program to stop responding completely. Perhaps it is this pod or another one like it that is doing similar activity behind the scenes? Hope this helps! Re: Cannot import graphics
David,Strange. I am also running the 424 version of Frame 12 on a 64-bit Windows 7 laptop. My source is maintained in a CMS. I just tested a book, which contains more than 100 graphics imported by reference and didn't see any problem. All of my graphics are either .gif or .jpg. Could this be related to the graphic format? I know that a vector graphic would require more resources than a bit-mapped graphic. If you are loading vector graphics, i.e., .eps, you might just be seeing a lag during the import.
