Re: [Framers] FrameMaker install without Distiller?

2018-05-04 Thread Lin Sims
I ran the install with admin rights. Clicking FrameMaker to customize the
installation shows FrameMaker and then Distiller as a subcomponent, each
with selected checkboxes. If I deselect Distiller, FrameMaker gets
deselected also. If I select FrameMaker, Distiller is reselected. I already
have Acrobat Pro on the computer and I need it for my job, so I am less
than happy with the installation behaviour. I've also never seen the
installer act like that before, and I've been working with Frame since
5.5.2.

I actually haven't installed it yet, since I'll need our IT company to
reinstall Acrobat Pro immediately and that will now not be happening until
Monday.

Re: [Framers] FrameMaker install without Distiller?

2018-05-04 Thread Heiko Haida
Well, I never had problems to deselect the Distiller plugin, this sounds
strange. Do you have all the necessary admin rights?

It is not advisable to install the Distiller plugin together with an
existing regular Acrobat, which will be efficiently removed or
deactivated -- very annoying esp. when further plugins are installed
with it (like PitStop etc.).
I made this mistake only once.

Of course, maybe you are more the Adobe Reader type, but I like the
option to "work" with PDF files.

Re: [Framers] FrameMaker install without Distiller?

2018-05-04 Thread Art Campbell
Unless you want to mess with the innards, it's easiest and best just to
install FM with the defaults. You're more likely to F* up something trying
to second guess the installer and not install the Distiller than you are
following the KISS principle.

If Acrobat is set as your default printer, as it should be, it will be
used.

Just get in the habit of using the Print command.

I was afraid of that. Oh, well.

Now I just have to wait for the IT service company to call, since they're
the ones with the Acrobat software.

2018-05-04 Thread Jeff Coatsworth
Hmm. you may have to set a Restore Point and go ahead & accept the Distiller
part and see if it's smart enough to recognize that you have the full Pro
version already installed. Then if worse comes to worse, you could try
uninstalling Acrobat & reinstalling it, while still having a stable start
point to roll back to.

Re: [Framers] SPAM -> Re: Expand all element boudaries (as tags) in EDD?

2018-05-04 Thread Bernard Aschwanden
The Shift+Click should expand/collapse all sibling elements. If you need
more control check out the tools that Russ Ward has at
http://www.weststreetconsulting.com/WSC_StructureTools.htm which includes
additional support for the click/right-click in the Structure View. I
believe it includes an "expand by 1, 2, 3 or all levels" option.

Hi Rick

Yes, that's what I had tried, but Shift-click on one of the elements does
not expand ALL of them, not even when I Shift-click the root element (in
the Structure view and in the document view). Some elements are expanded,
some are not, randomly, which is not really handy. ;-)

Kind regards

Re: [Framers] Expand all element boudaries (as tags) in EDD?

2018-05-04 Thread Yves Barbion
Hi Rick

Yes, that's what I had tried, but Shift-click on one of the elements does
not expand ALL of them, not even when I Shift-click the root element (in
the Structure view and in the document view). Some elements are expanded,
some are not, randomly, which is not really handy. ;-)

Kind regards

Yves

Hi Yves,

Try holding your shift key and clicking to expand one of them.

Subject: [Framers] Expand all element boudaries (as tags) in EDD?

Hi group

When I open an EDD, the element boundaries (as tags) are hidden. When I
select the option to show these tags, I see that most of them are collapsed.
Is there a simple way to expand all tags in 1 go?

Thanks

Yves
