Right. I am sorry I didn't get it, but yes, even with the same architecture
(32-bit) sometimes plugins have to be recompiled with new releases of
FrameMaker. That is the main reason I got away from plugins after
ExtendScript was added to FrameMaker. I got tired of having different
versions of my plugins for different versions of FrameMaker.

Yes, the IXGen developers will need to compile a version of IXGen that will
be compatible with 64-bit FrameMaker. There is nothing that you can do at
your end. You could try installing the 32-bit version of FrameMaker 2019,
but older plugins still may not work. I don't recommend this anyway, because
being 64-bit is one of the attractive "features" of 2019.

" Hi Dan
You may wanna check the dependencies of the executable dependencies. We
removed old icu and .net libraries across both 32 and 64 bit (FrameMaker)"

So if I am interpreting correctly, ixgen may rely on resources that are no
longer included with FM, so those resources will need to be rolled into
ixgen and recompiling a new executable would be needed for FM2019
compatibility... it may be more complicated than that; I'm not a developer.

program exists, and make sure you have enough swap space to run the client.

I checked the maker.ini file and didn't see anything untoward.

It may be that FM has changed enough "under the hood" that ixgen is no
longer compatible... which puts a real crimp in my production workflow. I'd
prefer not to go back to FM2017 at this point.

When I run the installer and select 32-bit FrameMaker 2019, it installs 
successfully, however when I launch 32-bit Frame 2019, I get the following 
error in the FM console:

Cannot initialize API client C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe FrameMaker 2019 
(32 Bit)\ixgen\bin\ixgen.dll.

Check for errors in the APIClients section of the maker.ini file in FrameMaker 
install location or your %appdata% folder, verify that the client program 
exists, and make sure you have enough swap space to run the client.
--


I checked the maker.ini file and didn't see anything untoward.

It may be that FM has changed enough "under the hood" that ixgen is no longer 
compatible... which puts a real crimp in my production workflow. I'd prefer not 
to go back to FM2017 at this point.

[Framers] FM2019 on W10 Thin-Client

Can someone please share your experience/challenges/issues when
installing/running FM2019 in a Windows 10 thin-client environment?  A
subgroup that uses thin-client is planning to deploy FM.  Thank you!
