2020-03-18 Thread Caroline Tabach
My file names are usually with no spaces and no punctuation, from old
Mif2Go days, which could not cope with anything like that.

It was just the folder name, and such a strange and unconnected problem
that resulted.

Well, I won't make that mistake again.

Fred did a great job of explaining why the ampersand (and some other
characters) can create problems.

On a side note, a few years back, I had a client's files that I was creating
an EPUB from and it would error out after a while. Drove me crazy for a
while until I realized that they used periods in their file names. For
example: "Chap1 File Name.new.fm".

Renamed all the files in the book and it went to EPUB without issue.

Moral of the story--keep the file names simple. You don't to go back to the
8.3 DOS days, but don't go crazy with punctuation. I pretty much stay with
underscores and sometimes hyphens.

Re: [Framers] MiniToc Disappers from HTML5 Help in Frame 2015

2020-03-18 Thread Fred Ridder
The ampersand is a reserved character in both HTML and XML. The character is
used to delimit the markup string for characters that cannot be typed directly.
In HTML and XML, a literal ampersand must be typed as the character entity
string
&
which itself uses the ampersand as a delimiter.
The other characters to avoid in path/file names that need to work in HTML are
less than ( < ), greater than ( > ), quotation mark ( " ) , and
apostrophe ( ' ). All of these characters are reserved in both HTML and
XML because they have defined uses as markup syntax delimiters.

Addition.
I tried to make help from an old set of files, and it worked.

The latest version of my files do not.

What could have changed?

[Framers] MiniToc Disappers from HTML5 Help in Frame 2015

2020-03-18 Thread Caroline Tabach
This worked last week and does not work now

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all keeping well and safe,

I hit a problem.

I had a MiniToc that provided hyperlinks at the beginning of each main
topic in the help file.

It was fine for the past year, and then something stopped working. Nothing
was updated or changed in my system as far as I know.

But suddenly, the MiniToc from the Frame doc does not appear in the HTML5
help file.

It does have a help condition. In the Frame file when I apply the condition
it appears, but it does not appear in the Help file that I create. I
cannot find anywhere a definition that says the MiniToc should not appear
in the resulting Help file.

This all worked very well for the last year, but suddenly does not work
well today and I cannot work out what could have changed.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Or how to solve this?

Thanks very much
