Re: [Framers] Backup in different folder?

2019-12-16 Thread 4XScripts

Even with a script it would not be very user-friendly:

The script had to change all the paths (graphics - textinsets - Xrefs..)

So in case of emergency you couldn't just copy the backup and paste it
in the original folder. You also had to use a script, that changes all
the paths.

Otherwise it would end up in a big mess.

Am 16.12.2019 um 17:47 schrieb Fred Ridder:

I don't believe this is possible, because the "Automatic backup on Save" feature dies not
actually create a new file. All that feature does is change the extension on the last saved version
of the file to add a .backup extension rather than flagging it to the OS as an unneeded file. The
"backup" file does not include any of the changes that you have made in the current
editing session, so IMO it is not really a backup. Maybe it's a *fallback* file, but to me a true
backup is an extra copy of the *current* file.

Currently, I have three Word documents with multiple sections and
sub-sections. My goal is to turn each section and subsection into
individual FM files and compile them via Books.

Because I don't have forever with the trial, and because my memory is not
cooperating, does FM have the ability to import a single Word file and
break it up into FM files by defining Word Styles?

If not, if for a reasonable amount, I'd be more open to using an existing
script, as where I am now is not as locked up as my previous gig.

Thanks

Re: [Framers] Fwd: Adobe Tech Comm Tools License Keys for Partners

2019-11-21 Thread 4XScripts

Hi Tammy,

there's no "WTF"  in my opinion.

Please have a look at the subject!:

*Adobe Tech Comm Tools License Keys for Partners *

It seems, that you are an Adobe Partner. And Adobe spreads their FREE
partner licenses this way.

I'm a partner, too, so I received this email also.

But there's absolutely no need to spread this email adress!
Be careful not only with your data, but also with the data of others.

purchased, that was it. Just how wrong this can go with Adobe is anyone's

Re: [Framers] OT: (Kinda') Spam to Adobe Partners

2019-08-21 Thread 4XScripts

I think it would be better to post this in the Adobe forum.

All partners are listed at the partners page :
https://partners.adobetechcomm.com/  ( currently unavailable)

So everybody can find all partner addresses. I don't think that Adobe
can stop that kind of spam.

So I just delete that spam.

Am 21.08.2019 um 17:34 schrieb tamm...@spectrumwritingllc.com:

I know many of us, as am I, on this list are Adobe Partners and I was under
the impression (perhaps incorrectly) that:

1. Adobe had to ask you to be a partner before you get added to/have
access to the list.
2. Adobe monitored the list and didn't allow anyone to sign up unless
they could be verified.

Over the last week and a half, I have been flamed incessantly from trolls
stating that "We found your company is related to "Partner of Adobe Computer
Software," and offering to sell me a list of potential clients to bolster my
business. The email address is a bogus address that changes constantly
despite the exact same message being sent, and there is no other contact
information such as a valid name/contact number provided. I have been simply
sending these cr*p emails to the trash, but the last straw was today when I
received an 8 am phone call from one of these spammers, w/ a very heavy
accent and the first words out of their mouths was "We found that your
company . . "

Has anyone else been receiving this kind of garbage? Can Adobe me made aware
of this and perhaps verify to whom they have recently given access to this
list and maybe kill it that way?

Just a stream of thought - and TIA.

Background: when I import a CGM file into FrameMaker 2019, it automatically
gets cropped to the content area, giving me a smaller anchored frame. When I
import the same image into FrameMaker 2017, all of the white space around
the image is imported, making the containing anchored frame much larger. I
am wondering if this is a function of an updated import filter for CGM
files. Any help would be appreciated.
