Fw: Frame 9 crashes and can't open any Frame files

I did a system restore before I left work, and that allowed me to open a file 
without crashing. However I did not have time to do more testing. I will know 
tomorrow for sure. Will report back.

FrameMaker started up fine, but crashed when I tried to open any file.

Is when FM starts up or only on opening a particular 
doc? If on starting up, try renaming the Linguistics folder; if 1 file, try 
using the heroic open

Colors in xxxCMP files

Frame 9 on XP.
When I compare two FrameMaker files and look at the xxxCMP file, the strike-out 
text is in RED, and the other text that is different is in GREEN. The Green 
color is kind of hard to read. Can I change these colors?

Frame 9 on XP.
When I compare two FrameMaker files and look at the xxxCMP file, the strike-out 
text is in RED, and the other text that is different is in GREEN. The Green

A footnote problem in PDF Bookmark and FM TOC

Hi All:

Frame 9 running on XP.

I have a section titled Basic Windows* Terminology where the * (asterisk) is

Thank you all. I took a look at page 9 this morning since the hiccup is on that 
page. There is a photo on that page. I removed that photo and tried to create a 
PDF again. This time, I was able to create a PDF without any problems. It was 
the photo that was causing the problem. You guys are wonderful!

How to delete a blank page

I use Format  Page Layout  Pagination and set the Before Saving  Printing 
drop-down to delete an empty page in the Title page of a book. But when I 
regenerate the book, the blank page comes back. What is the proper way to 
delete a blank page?

Page number not showing correctly in TOC

Unstructured Frame on XP.
 
I have a Revision History chapter. The page numbers for that chapter are iii 
and iv (no prefix). But when I look at the TOC, it shows 1-iii. I then look at 
the Chapter tab for Numbering Properties for that chapter. It does have 1 in 
the Chapter # field. But that field is not checked. What is checked is the 
Read from File field. My question is: I only want iii in the TOC for the 
Revision History chapter. What do I have to do to get rid of the 1- prefix in 
the TOC?

How to get rid of $elemtext in TOC

Frame 9, unstructured Frame files.
 
When I generate the TOC, I got some extra text, which is $elemtext.
 
The TOC should read something like this:

Instead, I got

How to get rid of <$elemtext in TOC

Frame 9, unstructured Frame files.
?
When I generate the TOC, I got some extra text, which is <$elemtext.
?
The TOC should read something like this:
?
CHAPTER 1: Introduction 1-1
. 
. 
. 
CHAPETR 2: System Overview 2-1
. 
. 
. 
?
Instead, I got
?
<$elemtextCHAPTER 1: Introduction 1-1
. 
. 
. 
<$elemtextCHAPTER 2: System Overview 2-1
. 
. 
. 
What is <$elemtext? Why am I getting this in the TOC? How do I fix this 
problem?

A cross reference question

d: QC result is excluded by user
 
The above is a cross reference. When I look at the Character Designer, the text 
is Regular for Weight. Is there a way to just bold the d: (shown below)?

When I generate the book file, I get the following messages:

Show/Hide setting for ChapterNumber is inconsistent.
Condition indicator for Comment is inconsistent.
 
How do I fix the TOC so I won't see these error messages again?
