Re: [Framers] Different page sizes in FM document

2019-04-01 Thread Crety, Christiane
Hi all,
Thanks a lot for your answers. I believe you’re right Richard. My problem is
that there doesn’t seem to be a separate setting for page size for master pages
– only for the entire document?
Kind regards,
Christiane

Hi Christiane

I believe that the best and easier way would be to create separated documents
for different pages (working on the master page formats of course). As, anyway
they will be numbered and included in a book project, the output would not be
affected (structured documents or pdf).

Tom and Rick: Thanks a lot for your answers – just to make sure: does ArchiveES

Let me add my 2 cents. We've been using Rick's script for years. Since most of
our manuals are translated into numerous languages, the archive that this
script creates makes it easy for my assistant to literally upload everything
the translator needs in a matter of minutes, knowing that the integrity of the
revision submitted for translation will be maintained.

It's also extremely fast -- usually under a minute or two, and that's for a
400+ page manual that contains hundreds of graphics and several embedded videos.

[Framers] Package function with external links?

2019-01-30 Thread Crety, Christiane
Hi all,
As most of you probably know, the Package function in FM 2019 only works when
referenced graphics are placed in the same folder (or a subfolder) as the FM
files.
That doesn't work for us, because we have a lot of graphics and text insets
that are used in several manuals, and we want to keep them updated in only one
place.
So: Does anyone know of another tool or script that will let us create an
archive with the FM files and referenced (external) graphics, similar to the
"Archive" script we used with our old FM10? I looked a bit at Finalyser, but it
seems to be quite expensive (999 Euro) when we only really need the package
function...
I hope you can help!
Best regards,
Christiane

Re: [Framers] wash via mif?

2019-01-14 Thread Crety, Christiane
Hi Lin, Winfried and all,
Thanks a lot for your help! I didn't know that Adobe included the dll with
FrameMaker - and you're right, a Readme file would have been nice :)
I copied the file and changed maker.ini as you described, and it works for my
FM books, so I'm (more or less) happy. There doesn't seem to be a similar
function to wash a single file though, but I guess that's a minor problem.
Best regards,
Christiane

Whoops. Sorry, yes, you do. This information is from the fm_bookmifwash.c
file. I don't know why Adobe hasn't provided a readme for this.

2. Open maker.ini file in the FrameMaker 10 directory. Add the following
lines to the [APIClients] section of the maker.ini file:
* MIFwash=Standard, MIF Wash, fminit\BookComponentMIFWash.dll, all

The tool is available under Book Utilities when the book is in focus.

[Framers] wash via mif?

2019-01-11 Thread Crety, Christiane
Hi all,
Does anyone know if you can use Wash via MIF with FM 2019? We just upgraded
(from FM 10!) and even though we copied the dll file to the same location in
the FM 2019 folder it doesn't seem to work. Is it not supported in FM 2019? And
if not, do you know of a similar function to "wash" the files?
Thanks,
BR Christiane
