Re: [Framers] image background problem
Hi Ken, support for transparency is better with newer FM versions, I’m not sure how FM10 yet supports PSD. Transparency should be supported when saving the PSD as EPS in Photoshop. In any case: be aware that transparency is NOT previewd on screen. Even not with newer FM versions (I think only from FM2019?). To test the transparency you need a PostScript printer - or print to PDF using a PostScript printer driver. If you use any non-postscript printer (inktjet etc) transparency won’t work. Try exporting from PS to SVG or EPS. Re: [Framers] image background problem
If you are using JPEG format, these files do not have transparent backgrounds ... if so, use PNG format for the images. I can copy the main graphic element (a stylized color bar with a curved lower edge, similar to the Nike "swoosh") from the Word file and paste it onto the top of page 1 of the new Frame file, but I need to delete a white area from the lower portion of that graphic (easier shown than described; contact me off-list and we can do a share-screen Zoom thing so I can show you what I mean). I used Adobe Photoshop CS4 to "apparently" successfully delete that white portion from that jpg file; the formerly white area of the original image is now the familiar grey checkerboard. Re: [Framers] image background problem
Try saving the file as a PNG file. JPG files always produce a white b/g when saved. Re: [Framers] image background problem
Ken, I think what you probably need to do is to add a "clipping path." I haven't used PSDs in FrameMaker-- I've always saved graphics as EPS-- but transparency was never honored for me without a clipping path.
