Adding a shadow to text in Framemaker 7.1

2009-04-06 Thread Tracy Penn
Hi,

Thanks for everyone's advice - it was all very much appreciated.

In the end I decided to follow Jona's advice, and added a background
text frame in the master pages containing the chapter number with the
chapter number variable formatted to 20% grey. I've had to tweak the EDD
a little also, but this appears to be the least labour-intensive method.

Thank you again!

Tracy

You could create a drop shadow effect by adding another background text
frame behind the text frame containing the chapter number with the
chapnum variable in it formatted to for example a light grey. THen shift
this text frame down and to the left or right a step or two. That would
approximate a shadow effect.

I don't have FM open now, so maybe it'll look like total crap, but it
might be worth a shot, and would be easier than creating custom graphics
for lots of chapter numbers.

Adding a shadow to text in Framemaker 7.1

2009-04-03 Thread qui...@airmail.net
Tracy,

What you are talking about is a graphic. Which is bad news. You would
need to create the graphic for each chapter number.

IF you are lucky you might find a suitable font. But I wouldn't count on it.

Adding a shadow to text in Framemaker 7.1

2009-04-03 Thread syed.hos...@aeris.net
If you do end up creating a graphic, then the best tool for this is from
Xara Corporation.

Check out www.xara.com for more information ... their Xara3D 6 will do
this and much more for text stuff - including outstanding and easy
shadow generation (for text and graphical objects).

The price ($29 for the download version) is excellent for what it does,
and they are having some sort of combined product sale right now (as I
recall) too.
