Re: Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-14 Thread Ken Poshedly
I don't know if this is close to what you're doing, but I've had success with
copying a table in Word or Excel, then pasting it as Rich Text Format directly
into the FM doc.

Then I select the entire table and use Table Table Designer and the other FM
tools and techniques to make it look like I want to.

I think that's more work than should be necessary, I'd try copying in
Excel, paste special in Word, copy, and paste in FrameMaker,
experimenting with various choices (HTML, RTF) when pasting in Word.

Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-09 Thread Sharon Burton
OK, all, I have a question. I have a long document in Frame 9 full of
tables. The client has decided they want to add one more column to each
table with content. The source for that content is Excel.

I want to copy the column from Excel into a new column in Frame. But the
Copy won't let me paste special into a table column, even if the column in
the buffer is the same number of cells as the selected column.

Thoughts? Workarounds?

I want to copy the column from Excel into a new column in Frame. But the
Copy won't let me paste special into a table column, even if the column in
the buffer is the same number of cells as the selected column.

Thoughts? Workarounds?

Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-09 Thread Writer
I can't test this idea completely at the moment, but...

In Excel, save the file as HTM.
Open the HTM file in Word, and then save as DOC.
Copy or convert from DOC file.

Just a thought.

Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-09 Thread Sharon Burton
I finally copied the table into a new Frame file, copy the column I need and
then paste into the table in the frame doc I need.

I was hoping someone had fewer steps. But it works and it?s only 40 or so

No problem, Sharon. I just wanted you to know that almost any repetitive

Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-09 Thread Owen, Clint
Copy you new data from Excel into a separate single column table in the
same or a new FM document. Make sue the number of cells matches, then
copy and paste it into the target table.

Copying in table columns in 9

2012-04-09 Thread Robert Lauriston
I think that's more work than should be necessary, I'd try copying in
Excel, paste special in Word, copy, and paste in FrameMaker,
experimenting with various choices (HTML, RTF) when pasting in Word.
