Dumb, obvious question

2006-04-14 Thread Robert Shelton
At least I hope it is. Using Frame 7 on Windows, I want to take all text that
uses a particular character tag, make it conditional, and hide it. I'm pretty
sure I've done this before, but I can't remember, or figure out, how to do it
again.

How do I apply a condition to a character tag?

Thanks.

Sorry, Bob, you can't apply conditions to character tags. 8 You can find
the character tag then manually apply the condition.

Bob,
You can also apply the condition once, use copy special to copy the
condition to the clipboard, and then apply the condition to all occurrences
of the character tag with a global Find/Change by pasting.

Thanks, Lynne. That will make it much easier--there's a lot of occurrences of
this. I'd never noticed Conditional Text Settings hiding down there at the
bottom of the Copy Special menu.

2006-04-14 Thread Ridder, Fred
Correct as far as it goes, but not the whole story. The whole
story is much more useful:

-Start by applying the desired condition to any text selection.
-Choose EditCopy SpecialConditional Text Settings.
-Choose EditFind/Change. Set up the dialog to Find the
desired character tag, and to Change By Pasting. In this
case what you're pasting is only the conditional test setting.
