I am on Win7-64 and have very few problems except for one: If I update a book and book file that had been compressed in the directory, then the book file causes a crash. FM9+ changed the way the UI looks and functions to be more mouse-oriented; people who used keyboard shortcuts have had to adapt a bit to the new UI. From a tech writing point of view, bundling the Technical Communication Suite together provides more ways of generating help output via RoboHelp now. FM9 introduced the book of books concept and folders within books; FM10 doesn't do much more with that. The biggest push is towards structured authoring (DITA and other schemas) and content management systems (CMS). If you've got a spare machine, you can download the free trial play around for 30 days with copies of your docs to see if you like it. FM window minimizing unexpectedly
This thing is driving me crazy...I'll be working in my Frame doc and suddenly the window shrinks down to about one inch by three inches! I thought it had something to do with my cursor hitting the edges of the monitor (especially the right side), but I've made sure the FM window opens on the left side and now it just seems to happen randomly. I've checked the interface preferences and found nothing that would seem to cause the minimizing to happen. I'm using FM 10 on Win 7, but the same thing has also happened with Illustrator. I've checked FM help and the forums but didn't see a solution. One might be there, but I didn't see it. :) Please help! FM window minimizing unexpectedly
Running 2 monitors? Hitting some key combo that shrinks the windows? Alt-Tabbing between apps? Just tossing stuff out there... I thought it had something to do with my cursor hitting the edges of the monitor (especially the right side), but I've made sure the FM window opens on the left side and now it just seems to happen randomly. I've checked the interface preferences and found nothing that would seem to cause the minimizing to happen. I'm using FM 10 on Win 7, but the same thing has also happened with Illustrator. I've checked FM help and the forums but didn't see a solution. One might be there, but I didn't see it. :) Please help! Generating Indexes
Hi Framers, Frame 8, Acrobat X. The frame file will be distributed as a pdf; some copies will be printed. I?m having trouble figuring out how to create indexes. I?ve looked up lists of markers and indexes and I?m not sure what the difference is. In the Help System, I can see a picture illustrating sub-entries of indexes, but I can?t figure out what to change or how. WHAT I WANT: 1. Index of Subjects (these are really titles) with a TAB between the subject and the page number. I have modified Level1SIX Paragraph format. Here?s what Fm generated on the reference page. 1, 2?3 Level2SIX Symbols[\ ];Numerics[0];A;B;C;D;E;F;G;H;I;J;K;L;M;N;O;P;Q;R;S;T;U;V;W;X;Y;Z <$symbols><$numerics><$alphabetics> -_?? Level1SIX openObjectId <$relfilename>:<$ObjectType> <$ObjectId> <$pagenum> (These last two are on separate lines with a carriage return between them, so I don't understand where to put the tab). 2. Index of Authors with a TAB between the author and the page number. Since some authors have multiple titles, I want a comma after the second+ page numbers (but not if there are not multiple titles). In the pdf of the Index, the active area for hypertext link is anywhere between the start of the author?s name and the first page reference. If there?s another page reference, it has a very small active area. Can I limit the active area for the hypertext marker to the page number area without Microtype tools?
