Re: [Frameworks] downloading videos from youtube

Check youtube-dl, an Open Source command line utility that is highly
versatile and configurable:
http://rg3.github.com/youtube-dl

If you want to download a whole batch of YouTube videos, write each URL as
one line of a plain text file 'videos.txt' and simply run, on the
Unix/Linux/Mac OS X commandline:

for url in $(cat videos.txt) ; do youtube-dl $url ; done

solutions? like a loupe on the lens of a 35mm still camera type of thing?

Re: [Frameworks] 16mm stills in LA

2012-01-03 Thread Daina Krumins
I used to put the 16mm film in an enlarger to make prints.

However,  the quality is really not all that good because when film goes
through a projector the grain, which is different for each frame, kind of
vanishes because it's only on the screen for 1/2 of 1/24 of a second.  The
viewers mind assembles the images from many frames so the grain kind of
averages out.

If it were my problem, I would get some sort of scanner for negatives to
digital files.  Then using Photoshop or Picture It I would improve the images.
These programs have a remove grain function.

I am looking to purchase two Bolex cameras in LA. Reflex would be best.
Anyone selling one or two? Where can I get these cameras in good working
 order? Thanks!

 Best,
 Stephanie

Re: [Frameworks] 16mm stills in LA

2012-01-03 Thread william santen
Hello
My suggestion-
I use a slide duplicator lens. The lens is about 8 inches long and
screws into my slr camera. There is a slot for a slide/ I actually
have 16mm slide-holders (for 110 slides when presented in a 35mm slide
projector).

After selecting a 16mm frame- I hold it up to the sky and take 36
different exposures. The duplicator-gadget allows one to ZOOM/ so it
is possible to make the 16mm slide fit the camera frame.
If black and white- you can develop and enlarge in your darkroom.

or
telephoto lens on a light table...
Hope this helps

 Hey guys
does anyone have any good solutions for making photographic prints off 16mm
film? I talked to fotokep about it and it's kinda pricey. Any home-made
solutions? like a loupe on the lens of a 35mm still camera type of thing?
trying to avoid both optical printing and scanning digitally.

I do not have experience with a DSLR and slide duper- After some research-
a flatbed scanner seems to be the best choice for the digital route-

I have embraced the slide-duper technique as an alternative to digital-
and as an approach to enlarging 16mm stills in my darkroom.
Sales of silver or color limited edition prints offset looper costs, 16mm
print costs etc..
