Re: [Frameworks] Seeking recommendations for service on Beaulieu cameras

2012-10-27 Thread David Tetzlaff
What kind of Beaulieu is it?

Actually, I have a clockwork R-16 that seems to have a bad spring motor. The
run is really short and it poops out at the end instead of running strong until
it stops. I was hoping to find someone who specializes in Beaulieau service
because I have a number of non-working or partial R-16 electric bodies, which
I'm hoping have some value to a repair shop for parts that could be bartered
against the cost of servicing the clockwork camera.

I know of Bernie's reputation, but I'd guess he doesn't do enough Beaulieu work
to be interested in something like that, yes?

Hi David,

It is likely your R16 just needs a good CLA. When the shutter mechanism is
gummed up, it opposes a huge resistance to the spring motor.
Once I see what you have, I might be interested in your Beaulieu bits and
pieces in exchange for the work.

Cheers,
Jean-Louis

Re: [Frameworks] BIENAL DE LA IMAGEN EN MOVIMIENTO

2012-10-27 Thread Gene Youngblood
Thanks. Nice catalog entry. What's the English title of your show?

I think we should try to bring the videos of my lecture/seminar back with
us. And your intro to your show if they record it. It'll take them forever
to mail the stuff. Since my events will total close to five hours, we should
probably bring at least 2TB of drive space. We have a small 1TB drive, do
you have another?

[Frameworks] Closing Sunday, NY: Fischinger's Raumlichtkunst installation

2012-10-27 Thread C Keefer
Last weekend to see Oskar Fischinger: Space Light Art (otherwise billed as
Raumlichtkunst) at the Whitney Museum, New York, through Sunday Oct 28. This is
Center for Visual Music's three screen recreation of his 1920's cinema
performances, with newly restored film transferred to HD. In Whitney's 2nd
floor Astoria galleries, it's a continually looped exhibition.

It's been a great run at the Whitney since June, with excellent NY Times and
artforum
coverage, the latter for both NY and London shows. Links to press here, and
more details about this project:
www.centerforvisualmusic.org/Raumlichtkunst.html

In London, our installation at Tate Modern, 5th Floor Collection Displays, is
on view through May 13, 2013.

CVM thanks the Avant Garde Masters Program, funded by Film Foundation,
administered by The National Film Preservation Foundation.

best regards
